Brandon Jacobs Next Year

Recommended Posts

Turner will not be a Giant next year. It's very doubtful they will make a big move for a back in FA, and will likely look to Jacobs and Ward add another to compete via the draft. Of course you never know depending on the circumstances of what price and who is available. But it won't be Turner.

It's going to be a tough off season for me.

I can only keep 2 Keepers and my choices will be Portis, SJax, Maroney, Jacobs, Harrison, and CJ....doubt I'd keep either WR, but still I'd like to keep them all.

trade a weak team without clear cut keepers for their draft picks and win your league for a change...

The Giants look like they may win their division. If they don't, they will likely get a wild-card into the playoffs, and although it's too early to tell, their schedule looks fairly promising such that playoffs are likely. If that is the case, they will be picking in the last quarter of the draft. The RBs of first round quality next year are: Adrian Peterson (top 5 pick), Michael Bush (top 10 pick), Marshawn Lynch (top 20-25 pick), and Kenny Irons (last quarter of first round pick).

When you look at the teams that need an RB - the Packers, Jets, perhaps Houston and Cleveland, maybe the Ravens and Jags etc., then those 4 backs quickly come off the board before the Giants pick. The Giants are a very solid team overall, and it's hard to find a hole in their team, but they could look to the interior of both lines. I would argue that the need of a replacement for Tiki will be their top priority in the offseason. That replacement could be Jacobs, but the Giants need an effective reciever at RB.

When it comes right down to it, if you think the Giants will make the playoffs, then don't think that they'll pick a back in the first round, because they won't reach for one. While I think the best option for the Giants is to invest in a solid recieving back, I don't think Turner is the solution (his ability and style is similar to Jacobs), and the draft is chalk-full of mediocre backs in the middle rounds. The real thing Jacobs owners need to look out for now is if the Giants pursue a good recieving back like Domanick Davis, Chris Perry, Dominic Rhodes, or Musa Smith -types via trade of free agency, who would not necessarily compete for the job outright, but would definately eat into his production.

14th round keeper for me...I'd say that's a no-brainer!

I can keep him in the 16th round, but we only keep 3 so I don't know if it's a no-brainer yet. The offseason will make all the difference. Luckily we don't announce keepers until right before the season.

Turner's a FA, and in here and the other topic he is 100% insinuating that Turner will be in NY next year. He said it directly in the other topic.

from rotworld

Michael Turner-RB-Chargers Oct. 18 - 7:25 pm et

NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports that with Tiki Barber set to retire, the Giants may show interest in Michael Turner during the '07 offseason.

He would reportedly be the "lightning" to Brandon Jacobs' "thunder." New York would need to sign Turner to an offer sheet, but with San Diego likely to place at least the first-round tender on their promising young back, he may be tough to pry away from the Bolts until 2008.

This bit on Turner is pure speculation on the part of the analyst. The information is in no manner coming from the team.

yea I knew that would be the first response it got, I just expected it out of scooter.

imo it will be rrbc next year with whomever they draft or bring in, hurting both values. And I own Jacobs in a dynasty league, I just don't see him being a fulltime feature back, hopefully I am wrong.

I made the point because it is an important distinction. The fact is, no one outside of the front office, and perhaps even they themselves at this point, have any definitive idea how the team plans to address the situation. But having followed this team closely for a long time, I see the move for turner very unlikely.

I'm not sure why you don't see Jacobs as a potential feature back, but there is a lot of evidence to suggest the team sees otherwise.

It won't be a 50/50 split. Jacobs will get 20 carries per game if they don't sign Turner. He's a beaaaaaaast.

It's the same point I've been making all week.

Why associating it with me is a bad thing I have no idea - on this topic I happen to be one of the more realistic posters. Part of that is calling the rumors of Turner coming to NY bullsh!t because the team has been saying for 2 years now that Jacobs is the heir apparent. Plus the not insignificant fact that Turner could well be one of the highest paid FA's in the game makes it extremely unrealistic.

But that's ok - if d0uchebags like mozzy84 want to slam me for being a well reasoned person who supports his arguments with fact, it only makes him look like an idiot. By all means - bash away and display your ignorance, mozzy84. :first:

I am not a football GM (a real one anyway) but I haven't seen anything that would make me believe Jacobs couldnt' handle the load. I imagine seeing highlights of him every week.

Did you guys see him carry about 5 guys for a first down against the 'Boys? Even his 2 yard TD was nice - took a few big hits, stepped over the fallen players and sasheyed into the endzone.

Couple that with his speed when in the open and he could be what FF championships are made of. I don't have him and doubt I will get him but if he is named the starter next year I would take him top 5.

hey you asked for a source for the guys thinking and I gave it to you, that guys response was the exact one you would give and I actually agree with him. Where did I slam you? No big news but this post is just another reason why you are the board clown.

first off, way to backpedal, assclown.

secondly, I didn't ask in general, nor did I ask you. I asked the person who's started that rumor on this and a previous topic.

thirdly, you claim to not have insulted me, yet that much is insinuated in your statement of "the sort of thing I expected to hear from Scooter" - now you call me the board clown.

And your backpedal is all the more obvious by this:

yea I knew that would be the first response it got, I just expected it out of scooter.

So obviously you did NOT agree with this person, or me for that matter (since he said exactly what I've been saying for a week) - you believe it will be RBBC and that Jacobs cannot be the FT RB. Which means you agree with the exact opposite of what I and xenophobe have said.

Check it, clown: I'm the one in here posting realistic opinions and you're the mindless d!ckweed spouting nonsense and personally attacking people. So glad you feel yourself qualified to judge others. Nice way to lie and insult me. You win "king d0uchbag" award for that. A simple, "my bad" would have sufficed. Idiot.
