brzrboy 0 Posted November 11, 2006 I'll start this, see if we get any action going. I like Northern Arizona tonight +25 at Kansas. Kansas has injuries to starters Kaun and Chalmers. They lost starter CJ Giles who has been dismissed from the team. Does this mean KU is hurting for talent? Of course not. They still have Brandon Rush, Julian Wright, and Russell Robinson, but the rest of the team is fairly inexperienced. Northern Az returns four starters from a 21-11 team, one of whom was the best 3pt % shooter in the nation last year. Kansas should win this game by 10-20pts, but I think 25 is asking a bit much. If Northern Az can hit a moderate amount of threes, they should hang within single digits. LOSER

GridIronAssassin#1 0 Posted November 12, 2006 3 team parlay with Ohio State ML, Missouri State ML, and the CUSE ML. I was curious if Missouri State was returning 3 starters that are now seniors. If Missouri State has last year's crew, they'll be tough. They got axed from the NCAA selection committee at the last moment last year.

I was going to do a moneyline parlay on Missouri State and Ohio State, but the moneyline was off on tOSU game. I went 3-1 on the day. I'm anxious to see the line for Arizona/Virginia tomorrow. I'm hoping for a line around 2, but I'm thinking it will probably be closer to 5 which is still not enough for Virginia. Unless the lines are completely out of whack for tomorrow I'm taking Arizona regardless of the line and Dook regardless of the line.
Tarheel Boy 0 Posted November 12, 2006 Gridiron, You mentioned in another thread a few darkhorse teams to bet on this year. I forgot to mention this team and forgot they played tonight, so I'm kicking myself for not getting the bet in. Xavier is going to be a team early on that will get favorable lines until early December. This is an excellent ball club that will or should be getting some votes within the next couple of weeks. The only key loss from last year's squad that should have knocked off Gonzaga in the tourney was their center, Brian Thornton. They return a lot of key players namely Stanley Burrell and Justin Cage plus Drew Lavender is eligible to play this year. If you saw him play at OU then you know he can push the ball up the court. They have a favorable schedule until early December when they play Creighton. Keep on eye on them as well.
Tarheel Boy 0 Posted November 12, 2006 College Hoops YTD: 6-4 I just saw some early lines on the three games I like: 1. Arizona -2.5: This is the first really good game this year. I've been eyeing this game all week and thought the line would be around 2 or 3 points. Sean Singletary is a great player and Virginia is going to be improved, but they don't have enough talent to beat a very good Arizona team. I think Mustafa Shukar has matured enough to know he can't take the stupid shots he has in previous years. Chase Budinger is another in a huge group of freshmen this year that will make an impact immediately. I think he has a huge game and Arizona wins by 7 or 8. LOSER 2. Dook -29.5: Greg Paulus is out for the game, but that doesn't mean a damn thing in this game. Everyone thinks that Dook is in a "rebuilding year" with Redick and Williams gone, but don't think this team isn't still loaded. I think Coach Chachefski will want to show the college basketball world that the Dookies are just fine and that they are still to be feared. WINNER 3. SMU -2: The Mustangs return pretty much every one from last year's team. While their record wasn't impressive I thought they were better and now they have a better coach. Yes, Doherty is one that has a temper, but he has shown that he can coach given what he did at Notre Dame and what he did early on at UNC. PUSH

Tarheel Boy 0 Posted November 13, 2006 Thanks for the analysis! Good Luck!! Well, it wasn't much of an analysis, but I didn't like that line when I first saw it. If sportsbook would have offered a first half line I probably would have taken it. The heavy favorites are also covering the first half lines for the most part. Yer mom 2 Posted November 14, 2006 Well Friends, Duke ended up coving for the game and the 2nd half!! That was a nailbiter as many basketball wagers are.... 2nd Half: Iowa -6.5 I have the game on here, The Citadel looked good for exactly a few minutes. Iowa is hot from 3 and looked liked they were just getting warmed up in the 1st half. Its always a gamble, but I layed kind of huge one on Iowa in the 2nd half, they shoud run away with this one...hopefully! Good luck!!

Tarheel Boy 0 Posted November 14, 2006 Marquette's getting their ass kicked as this is the first huge favorite that's not going to cover and is looking like they'll get upset. I sure would like to take Gardner Webb against Tech, but I think I'll lay off for the rest of the evening.
Tarheel Boy 0 Posted November 14, 2006 Wow, Houston comes back late in the game and sends it OT. They then get the win and cover. Went 3-2 on the night and I was way off on Marquette. I am really really wanting to take Gardner-Webb, but I'll stay off the game. I hope I don't regret it and if I watch the game and they cover I'll be even more mad. YTD: 11-7-1 Well, I've taken a complete 180 on the Texas Tech/Gardner Webb game as greed is setting in. I've done more research and the only player from Gardner Webb with any experience averaged 9.5 a game for them last year. They lost 5 of their top 6 scorers. Taking what little money I've won tonight I decided to go with Texas Tech -14 1H
Yer mom 2 Posted November 14, 2006 Bitter loss on the Iowa halftime line...they pulled away up 32 and just got completely sloppy thereafter. Gonna have to wrap it up on College Ball tonight.. Good Luck Guys!!
Tarheel Boy 0 Posted November 14, 2006 I should have quit while I was ahead for the night. Tech went up 13-0, but after that they just sucked. 11-8-1 for the year. Looking for the early line on UNC tomorrow night. I'm guess the line will be 30+.

I don't know alot about either except last year's reps which was that Northern Iowa was far better(Northern Iowa was a big dance threat and Pepperdine was a cellar dwellar. My plays, not posted were: 5 team moneyline which included Notre Dame, Northern Iowa, Tennessee, Florida State, Carolina(NFL). Notre Dame lost in close one to the end with Butler on a neutral court. So that was lost. Then I played a 3 teamer , again not posted, Tennessee, Florida State, and Carolina(NFL) for a small profit. I thought Notre Dame would beat Butler, but I really didn't check who was playing for either team and how good they were. I was going off of last year, in which Butler was actually pretty damn good. It'll be interesting to see how well Florida State does with Thornton this year. Thornton can be a scoring machine. But I'll add Xavier to Houston, which you threw out there earlier as a dark horse dog to watch this year. I like looking at these dark horses early, because there are such good chances that another "George Mason "will emerge again this year.

I like looking at these dark horses early, because there are such good chances that another "George Mason "will emerge again this year. I really like Xavier for the reasons I mentioned earlier. I read about 4 or 5 preseason magazines and all of them were hyping Xavier as well. Houston barely covered tonight, but I think as the season wears on they will continue to get better. They started off hot last year and then hit a funk early in conference play. They tried to make a push late, but lost too many games and momentum. I've always been a huge Tom Penders fan and I think he's building a nice program or rebuilding I guess even though it's 25 years later. :-) On a side note I was checking the early lines for tomorrow's games and on jimfeist.com they had SMU as a 7.5 point favorite over Florida State, but I think that has to be a mistake. They're playing the game in Tallahassee and unless Thornton's out of the lineup or someone else isn't playing I have no idea why the line would be that high. And you are correct that Thornton is a scoring machine, which is why I'm scratching my head at that line. If that is in fact the true line I need to do a little research tomorrow because my first instinct is to jump all over the Noles getting 7.
Tarheel Boy 0 Posted November 14, 2006 That was an obvious mistake in the early lines last night. That being said here are two early games I like: SMU +12 - Florida State is pretty good and has a chance to be a tourney team, but I don't know if they're 12 points better than SMU. I might be giving more credit to Doherty than he deserves, but I think his team will keep this game close. UNC -36 - Get ready to see points put up in bunches tonight. This Tar Heel team is going to run and run and then run some more. They scored 140 points the other night in their last exhibition game, but they also gave up 101 points. Williams emphasized defense the past few days and I look for that to be on display full force tonight.
