Uh-huh 0 Posted April 11, 2007 Might be old news but here it goes (warning: very clinical). Read Jesse's response - it's the 5th answer to the original post. Ow.
Mephisto 15 Posted April 11, 2007 The guy who alluded to the reality that every action has an equal and opposite reaction was correct. I don't know what that alleged cop was talking about certain circumstances getting "blown back" - even a few feet... it has nothing to do with the bullet. Funny... I just saw that "hollywood shooting victim blowback" effort debunked on that "Myth Busters" show. It was frigging hysterical. They suspended both a pig carcass with the mass of a heavy human and a full sized, weighted & packed dummy from a contraption and shot them with various firearms. No matter the caliber, including using solid deer shot at <20' - neither "body" flinched with more than the slightest movement to even knock it off of a hook. They went with shotguns, large caliber handguns... like 5-million grain .45 slugs... to fully automatic weapons. At one point, there were three guys at close range with full-auto machine guns firing all at once and the "bodies" barely moved. Fact is, if, like in the movies, firearms had the capacity to lift you off of your feet and slam you through a window... the shooter would suffer the same fate.
