lambert58 71 Posted April 30, 2007 Steelers or overall?
lambert58 71 Posted April 30, 2007 A little confusing draft for me. Even with the loss of Porter I did not believe that Line Backer was a weakness. If Tomlin plans to stick with LeBeau's 3-4 then I worry about how Woodley will do dropping into coverage. Timmons was a good pick but I would have went with a Corner. Spaeth in the third was disappointing. We already under use Miller and O-Line and Corner was more of a need. The Punter in the 5th was fine but I wonder if they had to move up to grab him. We lost a 6th with that pick but the compensotory pick made up for that. I was just stunned that the Steelers did not address Corner or O-Line until the 5th. I can't really grade the draft because I do not know what kind of offense Tomlin plans on running but I believe we are now loaded at Linebacker. How about you? Were you happy with the draft? The top 2 picks I don't have a problem with. I am not pleased with how the rest of the draft went down. We needed O-line help, somebody who can step in right away and at the least spell the starters for a series or two. Rb Bush from Louisville was there for the taking, he may have been a diamond in the rough. The punter was actually taken in the 4th round, talk about a bubble burster. He may or may not be a good one, but the 4th round???? The receiver out of Florida may pan out. All in all I think the defensive side of the ball was my area of concern, and those needs were partly addressed. I believe Ben, Willie, Hines, Miller, Holmes, our o-line will be fine. We just needed a little depth and we failed to get those types of players.
Snuff 10 Posted April 30, 2007 I give the draft a "D". Seriously, I did not like it at all. First 2 picks were solid, and I actually liked the punter pick in the 4th. Other than that, meh. We did not address the "O" line, or defensive back, or RB positions like I had hoped. The top 2 picks as I said are solid, but not for the Steelers. Wish I had time to give a more in depth analysis, but this draft doesn't deserve it anyways. Time will tell.
lambert58 71 Posted April 30, 2007 A little scary that this is the first linebacker picked in the first round since HUEY RICHARDSON!! What a waste of a pick that was.
ADD1CT36 1 Posted April 30, 2007 what is this "draft" you speak of??? jk. i dont usually know much of what's going on. i just thought that taking a punter so early was kinda weird. i thought gardocki is still doing pretty well. i realize he's getting up there for an athlete, but still, of all the positions to be eager to refill ... i'm just a girl oh and i am waiting for the defense... i dont know much, but i still feel that polamalu is all over the place trying to do 5 guys' jobs. maybe i'm wrong. but that's what it looks like to a lay-person's eyes. TAS 2 Posted April 30, 2007 I just watched a highlight reel of Michigans Woodley, and 1 thing really impressed me about this guy: his Barry Sanders approach after making big plays. He doesn't do the chest thumping bs you get from a ton of other players, he just lines back up and goes at it again.

Can't do the links right now but if you do a search you'll find them.

Although I hope our coverage is good enough where we don't need him!
