ELK GROVE, Calif. -- An 8-year-old boy took his mother's car out for a joyride on Monday, and his mother was arrested in connection with attacking officers, police said.

The incident was reported just after 1 p.m. Monday afternoon in the East Franklin area of Elk Grove, near Elk Grove and Franklin Boulevards.

The Elk Grove Police Department responded to calls from residents in the area who reported the child driving the red Acura Integra. Police said the boy was driving down Elk Grove Boulevard. Police said that three patrol cars with lights tried to pull over the car, but the driver did not yield.

The child continued to drive the car in a low-speed pursuit at 20 to 30 miles per hour for about five or six miles before returning home. At least one collision occurred, causing major body damage to the stolen car.

The pursuit ended when the child maneuvered the car back to his home. However, when police officers tried to remove him from the vehicle, his mother emerged from the house and allegedy attacked the officers. She was subdued and taken into custody. She faces charges of obstruction and battery of a police officer and may also face child endangerment charges.

Relatives said that the boy may have been lashing out, or that he wanted to go to the store to get something

The last line is my favorite ;)

This kid needs to hook up with the 10 month old that just got the gun
