GobbleDog 816 Posted August 12, 2007 Does "standard scoring" mean ppr ? I think so... Regardless, I gotta have my 1st round RB. Good luck tonight! Post your draft later and I'll criticize it for ya.
ffrookie312 0 Posted August 12, 2007 ok i will do that lol ya its a ppr league any sleepers would be great also Thanks again for the help and i will post my team later on tonight
GobbleDog 816 Posted August 12, 2007 Take Bulger if you want a 4th round QB. Take Romo if you want a late round (7th or so) QB. Don't undervalue those 6th and 7th round RBs... J Jones, T Bell, F Taylor, C Taylor, etc. All good options fer RB depth. You should have 5 RBs by the 9th round IMO. Not everyone agrees with this strategy, but I think the best draft advice is - Don't draft more than 3 WRs before the 10th round! WRs rarely get injured and the point diff between 6th round WRs and 10th round WRs is minute. There are much more important positions to fill in the mean time. (Personally, I don't even draft my #3 WR until round 10! IMO someone like I Bruce is nearly as good as those 6th-7th round WRs.)
preilly 0 Posted August 12, 2007 There will definitely be a good running back left at the 6th spot. Gore, Addai and Parker are great picks for the sixth spot and one of them will be available. (I'm assuming LT, SJ and LJ will all be gone). Your second round could be good for a WR, there's a number of them that all have about the same value and one of them should fall to you: Smith, CJ, Harrison, TO, Holt (I like them in that order). If there was a run on WR and those guys are all gone, you should be able to get another good RB like Bush, Henry or Maroney. I'm not sure if these count as sleepers, but Coles, Santana Moss, Braylon Edwards and Cotchery are usually available late and should all finish top 25 for WR
ffrookie312 0 Posted August 13, 2007 hey guys thanks much for the advice heres how my draft went down tonight I had 4th pick in the draft was a 12 team league Starters QB: Leinart RB:Addai RB:B.Jacobs WR:Chad Johnson WR:Larry Fitz TE:Vernon Davis W/T:Drew Bennett W/R:Brandon Jackson K:Olindo Mare Def:Philly Bench QB:Cutler RB:Leon Washington RB:Anthony Thomas TE:Mercedes Lewis WR:Dwayne Bowe RB:Chris Brown
Sparkling Wiggles 0 Posted August 13, 2007 You did well through four. Who did you get in four? Jacobs? I don't really see a fifth or sixth round pick on this team, though. If you took Vernon Davis and Leinart in five and six, that's pretty weak.
IGotWorms 3,315 Posted August 13, 2007 Yup. First four picks were good and then it looks like you were just throwing darts at a board. You really should have gotten a better RB3. I'm guessing you passed up a pretty damn good RB2 as well in order to land CJ. I would've gone RB/RB, most likely. It would be helpful if you posted all the draft picks of the first 2 rounds. GobbleDog 816 Posted August 13, 2007 King Clausen (myteam) 1. (4) Joseph Addai - Excellent pick 2. (21) Chad Johnson - dito 3. (28) Larry Fitzgerald - dito 4. (45) Brandon Jacobs - dito 5. (52) Matt Leinart - I like Leinart, but 5th round is a bit early isn't it? I would have gotten RB depth here. 6. (69) Vincent Jackson - The point diff between Jackson and a 9th round WR won't be much IMO. I would have gotten RB depth here too. 7. (76) Vernon Davis - Nice pick. Some predict Davis to be #1 at the end of the year. Not me, but I bet he's in the top 5. 8. (93) Philadelphia - Sigh... any defense taken before the 8th round better be CHI or BAL. Otherwise, I'd wait. 9. (100) Jay Cutler - Some people like Cutler. I don't. I'd rather get my QB depth in the 12th or so... Grossman will do just fine. 10. (117) Brandon Jackson - How did Jackson fall this far? Great value pick in the 10th. 11. (124) Leon Washington - I don't understand this pick. Why didn't you take Addai or Jacob's backup here? 12. (141) Olindo Mare - Say it ain't so... a 12th round kicker? 13. (148) Drew Bennett - Decent for 13th round I spose. 14. (165) Dwayne Bowe - You'll probably dump Bowe by week 6. 15. (172) Chris Brown - This RB gem fell to the 15th!?!? You got really lucky here. 16. (189) Marcedes Lewis - TE depth? I probably would have just surfed the waiver wire when Davis hits the bye week. 17. (196) Anthony Thomas - I'd start making trade offers to Lynch's owner. Package Thomas with a crappy WR and try to upgrade. Overall.... B-. What saved you was Jackson and Brown falling that far and giving you some RB depth. Although neither of them is officially the starter yet, so you could be in trouble. But your starting team is pretty solid IMO. Good luck!
ffrookie312 0 Posted August 14, 2007 Thanks for the help guys im working on a bowe for S.Holmes deal and im thinking about offering Brandon Jackson for deshaun Foster he has morency on his team as well so i think he would want jackson...
kcsportsguy 0 Posted August 14, 2007 Anyone else laugh after reading the team's name-"PacMan's_TNA_Academy" That was pretty creative and smart. A little review 4. (45) Brandon Jacobs -Don't like the pick. RBBC at NYG this year. Ruben was brought in for a reason. 5. (52) Matt Leinart - You will get double point for every TD he throws to Fitz. This should win you at least 8-9 games because of it. 6. (69) Vincent Jackson- Really bad pick. The offense goes through LT and Gates. 8. (93) Philadelphia - Taken way to early 9. (100) Jay Cutler -I like the pick. Cutler will do fine. 10. (117) Brandon Jackson -Good value pick. 11. (124) Leon Washington-This guy should not be drafted 13. (148) Drew Bennett- Good value pick. Probably the #2 WR for St Louis. 14. (165) Dwayne Bowe - See Leon Washington 15. (172) Chris Brown- Decent RB late in the rounds that always gives a chance to pay dividends during the year. 16. (189) Marcedes Lewis- See Leon Washington. 17. (196) Anthony Thomas-Good late round RB pick. I would hold on to him. If the rookie is hurt then you have a starting RB you picked in the 17th round! GobbleDog 816 Posted August 14, 2007 4. (45) Brandon Jacobs -Don't like the pick. RBBC at NYG this year. Ruben was brought in for a reason. I would have preferred Cadillac Williams with that pick, because I somewhat I agree with you that NYG could wind up with more RBBC than people currently think. Still, he had to take a #2 RB and Jacobs should get decent TDs. It's the week-to-week consistent points that I'd worry about.
ffrookie312 0 Posted August 14, 2007 Thanks again for the input guys... here are a few trades that have been offered to me Trade one offering me Marshall(broncos WR) J.Jones M.Stover for Brandon Jackson Bennett Mare Im not sure what jones status is with big d anybody know if he is the starter or not? Trade 2 Offering me: Santonio Holmes Buckhalter Winslow Jr For Bennett Leon Washington Bo Schafie(sp?) i dropped Lewis for him
GobbleDog 816 Posted August 14, 2007 Wow, decent trade offers. Trade 1 upgrades Jackson for JJ, which might be something you'd want considering your RB depth is questionable and Jackson's role this year is uncertain. Also, Dallas's offense should be better than GB and Jones (who's officially still on top of the depth chart) could have a decent year even while sharing carries with Barber. Trade 2 upgrades Bennett for Holmes and (for some crazy reason) throws in K Winslow to boot. You definitely get a lot more value out of this trade. If you didn't already have V Davis, I'd jump at this trade in a heartbeat. ................................................................. Normally I'd say negotiate and see what you can get thrown in, but those are already good offers IMO. The question you should be asking yourself right now is "will B Jackson pan out?". If he doesn't, then trade 1 is better. But if Jackson finishes with similar or more points than Jones, then trade 2 is the smart move. I'm leaning towards trade 2. But I gotta sleep on it. The Packers RB situation is very confusing right now.
