enricopulazzo 0 Posted September 15, 2007 I know everyone is down on LJ this week, some have already given up on him for the season and I can see why. But I still think he can produce, even against the Bears. When I say produce, I don't mean a 100 yds and 2 TDs. But he's gotta do something, right? Maybe 60-70 yds rushing and 30 rec? He's all they've got. And I would gladly take that stat line, too. Keep in mind, LJ ran all over some really good defenses last season; 120 vs BAL, 140 vs JAX and a couple others I don't recall. With that said, and hurting already at 0-1, do I bench LJ for Maurice Jones-Drew?? He faces a weak ATL run def but he also splits carries with FTaylor. What to do, what to do? Standard scoring and yards league, no ppr. Gotta step out for a bit but I will answer all who reply to mine - just leave a link, please. Thx
Lake209 43 Posted September 15, 2007 Since you are getting PPR points, then yes, I go with MJD this week. I agree with your LJ assessment...I not off the train yet...the guy is just plain good. He's just got a horrible match-up this week. ...strangely, I think E. Kennison being out acutally hurts him... mastoid 0 Posted September 15, 2007 Dude, I'd play Jones-Drew this week and never look back. LT is the SD offense, and he was held to next to nothing (relatively speaking of course). Jones-Drew is a goaline stud. F. Taylor is the man between the 20's...once JAX gets in the redzone, it;s all Jones-Drew. Sit LJ, start Jones-Drew and enjoy the win. Good Luck. rickyv81 0 Posted September 15, 2007 Normally, I would never bench a first round pick until at least week 4 (barring injury). Isn't that why you drafted them so high? This case is different, though; I would definitely start MJD. Now, the argument can be made that all the stud RBs who missed preseason all started off slow (LT, SJax & LJ). I can buy that. But, one thing that makes LJ different is that I absolutely cannot buy the KC offense. The Chargers are still "the Chargers" and they still have more than enough talent to sleep-walk into the playoffs. The Rams, even without Pace still have Marc Bulger (one of the most underrated QBs and the quickest release in football) and Tory Holt to keep that O on track. The Chiefs have nothing-- Preseason: nothing, 'Hard Knocks' on HBO: nothing, Week 1: nothing... (do you see a trend?) I like Sammie Parker as a starter, hopefully he'll be able to spread the field a bit... I think starting MJD week 2 is a no-lose situation. MJD is going against a soft ATL run D (not to mention, I'm sure he wants to make amends for his costly fumble last week). MJD will do well. LJ is going against a tough CHI D who did everything right to contain the best RB in football last week, they'll do the same this week. *and I've never seen LJ throw for a TD* So, all that being said... Start MJD and watch him do better than LJ (worst case: LJ blows up on your bench and even that should give you more hope for the next 14 weeks!!) ** worst-worst case: they both suck, then you sell, sell, sell-- because you're proper fukked (shameless 'Snatch' reference) **

I think the Bears are pissed off and doubt that KC has the o-line/passing game to keep 8 out of the box. I also think JAX will be upset after last week and will get the ball to their runners a lot more. bgibjr 0 Posted September 15, 2007 I would go MJD against a weak ATL defense, LJ may still be rusty and is going against CHI. Good Luck. Thanks for the post on mine.

Like he said - If LJ blows up on your bench, then you know he's back. I doubt you will even care is he's on your bench or not... I know I'd be happy just to see something positive. Go with MJD, you can't lose. Oh - and thanks for answering my question.

Everyone on here is so high on MJD, but he looked very average against the Titans last week. Why not go with the stud? I think you will be upset if LJ blows up on your bench. SirJiggabins 0 Posted September 15, 2007 Personally, I think this is a no brainer. Bench LJ...Chicago D is ruthless and KCs offense SUCKS. Chitown will stack the line and make KCs crappy qb and wideouts win the game. The fact that you get points per reception seals the deal...MJD. mec411 0 Posted September 15, 2007 MJD. LJ will round back into form, but not this week. IMO.
vicksdawgs 0 Posted September 15, 2007 KC will get blown out early in this game and that will only help Johnson's stats. KC is not going to go to the air to try to get back in the game when they have nobody but Bowe... Johnson will run the 2nd half against a nickel package guarding the pass. He'll get his yards. Stick with him and hope Chi gets up big early
Texansfan 0 Posted September 15, 2007 LJ had 7 catches last week in LIMITED action. If I'm not mistaken I think that led ALL RBs! And this week Herm said he's unleashing him. I look for him to get at least 60-80 rushing yards and around 8-10 catches for another 50 yards. TD or not that's damn good points. Especially if you are in a PPR league! DO NOT BENCH LJ. czorn 0 Posted September 15, 2007 I think JAX will want to get the running game back on track this week. Taylor's OK, but MJD is explosive -- he can bust one at any time. LJ used to be like that, but even in his prime I wouldn't expect it against the Chicago D. Go MJD. (And please help...).
