itsbigmoni 1 Posted September 28, 2007 What are your opinions? Who has one? I'm thinking about maybe buying one. Would you recommend it?
Boz/BoFan 0 Posted September 28, 2007 Wait till the next version comes out in a year or so, the first one was a test mule with inferior tech and components. Thats what im doing anyway.
dats007 1 Posted September 28, 2007 I have a good friend who bought an iPhone a couple of weeks ago. From what we've been able to gather, it's using far from inferior technology or components. In fact, from my experience, it's probably the most technologically advanced phone that I've ever seen or used! While I'm sure that there is technology that exists that is far superior to that which the iPhone uses, I'd challenge anybody to find a phone with the amount of features, ease of use and product quality that comes standard with each and every Apple product. Granted it's a lot of money, but it's also a first generation product, so you should expect to pay more for it. I'm waiting for the second generation myself, but not because I'm afraid of the technology or components. I'm waiting for them to add to an already good product and increase the hard drive space, speed up their internet access, and allow partnering companies to offer more services compatible with their system. itsbigmoni 1 Posted September 28, 2007 The biggest reason i started looking in to an iphone was because i need an MP3 player. Nano's start around 150, the classics are around 250, and the phone is 300. But for now, i just ordered a headphone adapter for my sync. 1 gig MiniSD card should work for now i guess. I'm thinking i'll wait for the next gen. But, the reason i would consider buying an iphone now is because of the price. Only 300. When the next gen comes out, i'm sure it'll be up towards 500 or so again. I don't wanna pay THAT much.
davebg 0 Posted September 28, 2007 #1 - It's only the 4GB model that's $300 and they discontinued that, so you might not have much luck finding one that's not a refurb. #2 - The latest firmware update (that came out yesterday) has begun to "brick" any unlocked phones. There are also reports of it screwing up phones that weren't unlocked (deleting addy books, complete bricking and such). Also, forget about all those third party apps (see bricking reference above). #3 - AT&T can take their fully functioning battle station and shove it up their ass. #4 - You can get older model Nanos for less than $150...MUCH LESS if you are willing to go w/a refurb from Apple. #5 - I don't know how much luck Apple's going to have trying to sell the next gen iPhone for $500-600 given the backlash after they slashed the prices of this one after 2 months on the market. FranksTanks 0 Posted September 28, 2007 I haven't meant a person that doesn't like theirs. As soon as I can get out of my contract I would love to get one for sure. I especially love how you can now download music straight to the damn thing from anywhere.

davebg 0 Posted September 28, 2007 ok, almost anywhere. If you live in a city w/a Starbucks on every corner or the local population is a bunch of focking idiots who don't know how to secure their wireless connection...yes.
itsbigmoni 1 Posted September 28, 2007 Yea, the more i think about it, the more it makes sense to pass on this offer for right now. I forgot that once you stop the service, you can't even use it as an ipod. The whole phone stops working. What about Touch? Also, what MP3 player would you guys recommend? I'm not hell bent on gettin an ipod. I want something with at least 2 gigs. I mean, preferably i'd want at least 4, but i could go with 2. I don't care much for crazy amounts of gigs or video playback capabilities. Biggest things are, small, light, durable, at least 2 gigs, and some sort of screen (preferably color, but i could go with monochrome or whatever that sh1t is called). Hell, it fits in the small pocket-inside-the-pocket in your jeans. Can't beat that.
dats007 1 Posted September 28, 2007 Nano! I like Apple products and I think they are the only ones that are compatible with music purchased from the iTunes store.

GeminiV 0 Posted September 29, 2007 I'm hoping that within a year or so there'll be an iPhone (or something similarly great) with GPS and I'm holding out for that.
