Anybody see the Lynne Cheney / TDS interview?

Now, I'm normally a huge fan of TDS. The chickenhawks tend to about the show as being some kind of liberal attack dog, but it's funny, we sure didn't hear that when TDS was just nailing Clinton like an intern during his term. I think the writing on the show is top notch - and Jon Stewart is great at what he does.

 

Then, I watched him interview Lynne Cheney for some cheeseball book she wrote. Jon wasn't an outright doosh, but he came damn close a few times. Look, I don't care who you are - you don't go after a guy's wife or kids because you disagree with their husband/father's politics. So much so that I had to write in to the show's message bored:

 

I'm really glad somebody posted this thread (Lynne Cheney - Unfair). I'm a huge TDS/JS fan, but this was a pretty classless move. One of the reasons I liked Jon was his ability to interview fairly anybody from either side of the isle - and to respect them and find value in them. Over the years, Jon's gotten to be a lot more bitter, strident and personal. I guess he reflects the country. I hope somebody sits Jon down and reminds him of what he used to be and where he's headed. When comedians take themselves too seriously - especially politically - they fail. All Jon has to do is look at Bill Maher and Dennis Miller to see where he's headed if he keeps up like he did in this interview. You can be edgy & topical, but don't be a jerk. - Don't be 'that guy' that nobody wants to see or be around anymore. Huge fan Jon. Just don't want your bitterness to overcome your humor.

 

It was too funny to get lambasted by all the radical lefties who think JS is the 2nd coming. I mean, what I wrote wasn't exactly unreasonable. Finally, I had to respond with:

 

The reason people (especially most people on this board) like Jon is because he's NOT like the dirtbags on cable news shows. He's gone off on how much he can't stand that level of discourse. Unfortunately, there are times lately when it seems like he has become what he abhors. I know some of you want Jon to be your liberal pitbull to satifsy whatever frustrations you have with everyone you don't like. However, seeing as how Jon has made a career and a platform of blasting bloviating d-bag bullies, it's the HEIGHT of hypocrisy to 'fight fire with fire'.

If you want a Liberal Bill O'Reilly to fight your battles, look to Bill Maher. That's not why most of watch & love TDS though

But, I thought RP and BozoJets would get kick outta the fact - unlike them - I don't have some pavlovian response to defend the messenger (BOR, Limblob), I go after the message - and in this case, the liberal equivalents of those guys - equally unintelligible writing styles included - lost their wittle minds too.

What are you talking about? Did you watch the show? He wasn't being disrespectful at all. I mean, before he even asked that question, he had a 5 min lead in to make clear he wasn't trying to be disrespectful and he would totally understand if she didn't wanna answer the question. It was obvious he wasn't trying to pull a doosh move.

 

On the other hand, lynn cheaney was pretty impressive. I liked how she did the interview. She even made a joke about d1ck biting chickens heads off at home. For those that didn't watch lil bush, cheaney bit a lot of chicken heads for some reason.
