drd0g 0 Posted November 7, 2007 If this has been asked previously I apologize up front. Willis McGehee recovered a fumble Monday night and as a result of the play lost a bunch of yardage, almost getting tackled for a safety. I don't know the exact loss but let's say he picked up the fumble on the 11 and was tackled on the 1. Does this not count as lost rushing yardage? Hypothetically, if a RB recovers a fumble and advances it for a gain, wouldn't he be credited for the yardage gained?

I believe it would only count for him or against him if he recovered his own fumble.
Mephisto 15 Posted November 7, 2007 I believe it depends on the causitization.
patweisers44 710 Posted November 7, 2007 I believe it depends on the causitization. It would be split between the QB and the RB
drd0g 0 Posted November 8, 2007 Let's say the causitization was... McHair's inability to see clearly through "deer in the headlights" eyes. In an effort to save his own life he pitches the ball in the general vicinity of (is this any better than Buffalo?) McGehee. So a play that began on say... the 15, gets recovered on the 10 or 11 and finally ends up on the 1. Who gets credit for that lost yardage? Is this a "team" loss? The difference in McGehee's total rushing yardage is within the total amount that I won by in week 9. My opponent last week is claiming I somehow disallowed the lost rushing yardage of McGehee. If he is right on the rushing rule (lost yardage on a fumble recovery) I'll change the outcome but no one seems to have an answer...
Mephisto 15 Posted November 8, 2007 I don't know the specifics of the play, but if he recovered someone else's fumble - he's not credited with a rush and not "credited" with lost rushing yards.
