zmanzzzz 1 Posted December 5, 2007 First and foremost let me say thanks to everyone that sent emails over the past few weeks, especially those of you offering assistance and your time. It's much appreciated! I received so much email that was impossible for me to respond to everyone and I apologize for that, but please know that I read your notes and I can’t thank you enough. As some of you know the FF Today Forums were hacked in late December, and in part, the cause for the recent downtime. The hack came as a result of a security flaw in the software used to power these forums and has since been corrected. Some unexpected delays in support also contributed to the length of downtime, plus I needed time to recoup after repeatedly banging my head into a brick wall. Gus Frerotte would be proud. Considering all the circumstances that transpired late last year I also wanted to take some time and contemplate the direction the forums should take and to make sure we have the resources to moderate them properly so that everyone can enjoy the fantasy information and discussion that takes place. I think we've got a good plan in that regard, and I’m very excited to have the forums back and ready for action. I understand that many of you were frustrated with the downtime and I completely understand. I was frustrated too. While I was extremely frustrated by the hack, what was more disturbing was the fact that a number of FF Today members decided to take advantage of the situation, causing further damage to boards, resulting in lost data (posts, member accounts, etc). This simply can’t and won’t be tolerated, period. To all the members with league boards and to those of you that make a positive contribution to the community, my sincerest apologies to you for the forums being down the past few weeks and I can’t thank you enough for your patience. I hope the recent adjustments to the server and the community environment will prevent this kind of episode from happening again. If you are experiencing problems with your league board (members can’t login, Moderator permissions, etc), please send me an email mike@fftoday.com and I’ll get the problem fixed as soon as I can. Moving Forward – (PA up to eleven, please.) 1. If you wish to post at the FF Today Forums, you must play be these rules and guidelines. I can’t stress this enough. If you can’t or don’t want to follow these guidelines then your account will be deleted and you are welcome to find a board that suits your posting style. The FF Today Forums are a great resource for fantasy football discussion but its important for you to follow the rules and guidelines. in order to keep this a pleasant environment for everyone. Playing policeman is no fun, trust me, but unfortunately it must and will be done. Those of you with active accounts, I would strongly encourage you to please re-read the forum guidelines before posting. There will be no warnings for breaking the forum rules. 2. We are currently not accepting new registrations. This is only temporary while additional maintenance is performed on the software. 3. Since we’ve upgraded to a newer version of the forums software you may experience some issues when trying to login or retrieve information from your account. In most instances, this can be resolved by logging out and logging back in; or clearing your browser’s cache. If you are having problems logging in, please send me an email mike@fftoday.com and I will assist you as best I can. Remember, the guidelines and rules of The FF Today Forums are here to ensure that this remains a great resource for fantasy football discussion, so the rules will be enforced. Most of you will have no problem following them. Please use you common sense and if you have a question, ask first before posting and I will do my best to help make the line clearer for you. Communicating on a message board is different from face-to-face communication. Only the words are seen, not your facial expressions or tone of voice. Please pay careful attention to how you use your words. OK, I'll step off the soap box now and crank down the PA. We will be making some minor cosmetic changes to the boards in the coming days, but with free agency finally underway and peace finally reached on the labor front, its time to talk some football so, let’s get to it!
