Keeper Trade Offer - R Grant and M Lynch

Recommended Posts

10 team league. 16 man roster. Play 1 QB, 2 RB, 1 TE, 2 WR, 1 K, 1 ST/D. Standard scoring.

2 keepers from last year. Must be 3rd round or lower from last year.

I have Ryan Grant, would cost me a lowly 15th round pick. If I kept him next year it would cost 13th round, the next year 11th round, etc. So, a nice long term investment if he pans out.

Been offered Marshawn Lynch for Grant. Lynch would cost me this year's 3rd round pick. He would not be keepable next year.

Thoughts?

I would keep Ryan Grant solely on the value you have with a 15th round pick. If both backs produce like last year they are pretty much the same value IMO. With the talk of Favre coming back Grant's value will go up even more. Good Luck.

Looks like no chance o Favre in GB this me. I worry that Grant will see 9 men in the box every game as Rodgers will struggle so much at QB. More thoughts?

I don't think defenses can stack the box if the Packers continue to attack with a spread offense. Even if you respect the run more, you can't let Jennings, Driver, Jones, and so on run free really. So Grant will still have some room to run, even if his 5-plus ypc drops down a tad.

I would go with Grant in this scenario, I think. Just too much value in terms of draft pick compensation to consider.

I worry about Lynch lasting, he took a crazy amount of shots last season with his hardnose running. And he's got the workload he has. I love the guy and love that he's with the Bills though, hopefully he stay healthy and produce.

This guy is more or less on the mark.

one other point is that Rodgers looked pretty good when he had to step in last year. Unless he really stinks the joint out, the spread offense will make it hard to stack the box against green bay.

Also, I like the organization of Green Bay much more than I do of Buffalo. Green Bay has the overall better team, and if this proves to be the case next year (and I think it will) this will mean that their RB will get more carries late in the game for purposes of killing the clock. Where Buffalo will likely fall behind early and end up abandoning the run and throwing more than they would want to late in the game.

these two factors make me lean toward keeping Grant. And you have to admit, the price is right for him. You wont come anywhere close to that kind of talent for a 15th round pick. If you are gonna trade him away to get someone where you're giving up a pick in the top 3 rounds, you need to get a substantially better player in return because of how long you will get to keep him. (1-2 years max)
