Kitna vs. Cutler

Recommended Posts

I am completely stuck between both guys. I think Cutler is a better quarterback and plays behind a much better line, but Kitna has the weapons to throw to. I love their receivers and K. Smith should be a nice complimentary back. Cutler has Marshall and that is about it. So anyhow persuade for sure one way or another.

I'm higher on Kitna for a couple reasons...

- Megatron has looked like an absolute beast phsyically and fantasy wise...

- I'm higher on the Det running game this year w/ fresh legs Kevin Smith

- He plays in a domeski

- You will likely get him in the later rounds in fantasy drafts Cutler 8.06 vs. Kitna 11.06

- Cutler will be without BMarsh for the first 2 weeks of the season and may effect their chemistry

- Cutler plays 2 games in the fantasy playoffs at home likely covered in blankets of snow...

Kitna is in a better situation, but I like Cutler this year. He needs someone to step up besides Marshall... I have Cutler rated slightly higher, both are good #2 QB's though!

Jay is by far the better QB and Marshall will prove to be a top 5 WR by the end of this year. The only real down side is, because of the way Denver runs their game plan, Jay may never throw more then 25 TD's (which isn't that bad). You say that Marshall is the only receiver Jay has... but what about Sheffler. I believe Denver's TE will also be a top 5 player at his position this year. Young is also a receiving option, though fairly short. All in all, I'd never put much weight in any of the Lion's players. They are just not reliable FF options.

Scheffler? You mean the TE who just got demoted to 2nd string? DOH!

If he catches anything it will be because Cutler threw the ball out of bounds when escaping the pass rush! :)

just FYI, Scheffler has been down the depth chart all training camp. This is'nt some new developement and wont affect his production. Graham is the starter because he's a great blocker and the Bronco's like Jackson as well.Scheffler is a pretty terrible blocker and as such is just a pass catching specialist.

I like Cutler WAY better than Kitna. I love Kitna's weapons but I dont think he's a very good QB and could lose his job toward the end of the year because of picks, fumbles, losses etc.

I llike both QBs for what they will cost you and think they can be servicable thoughout the season.

Two other points, if DJax can avoid injury and play ball, Cutler and the offense will be that much better.

Marshall does appear to be a diamond in the rough.

Who's the #2 QB in Detroit? I can't imagine that whoever that is, is better than Kitna.

Also, the Denver OL is not looking so sharp lately. An injury to Tom Nalen is a problem. And until Clumsy McBurgerhands gets back from suspension in Game 4, Cutler's top choice is....Eddie Royal. Yikes.

I think this competition is closer than you think. I still like Cutler better, but not by that much.

Cutler's a top 10 QB. Kitna's not. Enough said.

Kitna will likely not even be starting by the 2nd half of the season. Once Detroit it out of it (which is in about a week), they'll see what Stanton can do so they'll know if they need to draft another QB or not.

Stanton is out for the first month of the regular season.

Kitna will be the starter for the season. I'm not sure why anyone would assume otherwise.

So when they have no shot of making the playoffs they're going to keep trotting Kitna out there rather than see what they've got for the future? I'm not sure why anyone would assume that.

this is exactly right.Kitna's done well in his career to last this long but he's really not very good, he's also old and as such he's not the future here.He throws WAY too many picks year in and year out without making the huge plays to compensate for them.

He very well could start all year but I would'nt bet on it.The Lions look to be a subpar team again this year and when they fall out of contention (if not sooner) I think they put Stanton in there and see whether they need to draft a QB early next year.

Really? Since when?

I've got him as my #10 projected QB. He was about 12th in most leagues last year and that was with incredible years from Favre, Warner and Derek Anderson.

Should'nt be too tough for him to pass a couple of those guys this year and grab a top 10 spot.Even if he does'nt, being top 12 makes him a good starter in most leagues.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I see Marinelli being the type of coach that plays to win each and every game. I have a hard time seeing him consenting a losing season and putting in a qb that is not the same caliber as Kitna. Say what you want about him---he's the best qb on the Lion's team.

Now it is very possible that Kitna will get hurt if he keeps getting knocked around which would fulfill your fantasy of having Stanton (or Orlovski) take over. One thing I've noticed during the preseason is how fresh Kitna has looked. Maybe its because last time I watched him he'd been sacked 150 times in 15 games--not sure but he seems faster, more accurate, and just flat out better.

I don't see the Lion's being a playoff caliber team, but I do feel they are moving in the right direction...finally. They did some major housecleaning during the last two offseasons, have much more team speed, and finally have caught on to the fact that having your defense on the field for 3 out of 4 quarters is a bad thing. I see them going 8-8, but being much more competitive overall this year. Last year they were a 4-12 caliber team that finished 7-9. Maybe this year they'll get lucky and sneak into the playoffs---won't know till the games start.
