karmarooster 0 Posted December 30, 2008 I just wanted to start a thread about some players who you think will be solid mid-round selections next year. As we all know, these rounds are very important and often don't get debated as much as the first round order. Here are some players who i think will have great value in the mid to late rounds next year. Please feel free to disagree, and post some of your own. I'll post some more as i think of them. QB - Carson Palmer. This year he was atrocious, for a number of reasons including the sorry state of the bengals and his elbow injury. Going into the draft, he was somewhere around the 5th-8th QB off the boards, and turned out to be a huge disappointment. being shut down tand put on the IR with his elbow could be the best thing that happened to him next year. Next year, he'll have 2 of these 3 WRs to throw to: Housh, Cinco, and Chris Henry, which isn't bad. Cedric Benson should restabalize the running game, and I could see Carson bouncing back next year to somewhere in the 5-12 QB range. He should be a great value pick, i dont think he will be in the top 10 QBs taken. that being said, i wouldn't want to roll with him as my QB1, but i wouldn't mind something like Schaub and Palmer as a platoon from the 10th+ rounds. WR - Michael Jenkins. This is a guy who i think would be a great backup/bye week fill-in, something like a WR3 or 4 depending on the number of starters you have. I wouldn't want him to be WR3 if i start 3 WRs, tho. But here are some positives for him: Matt Ryan should only get better, and he plays opposite Roddy White so that means single coverage everytime. He has been somewhat inconsisten in the past, but at the end of this season he was reliable for 50+ yards in something like 8 weeks in a row. The only negative i can think of is the Rookie WR for atlanta, i can't think of his name but he scored some TDs and looks like a Donnie Avery type spark plug... it could push Jenkins down the depth chart to the falcons WR3, and that would ruin has value completely. FrankRizzo 0 Posted December 30, 2008 McNabb. Again, he will go late yet he finishes with solid number each year. People might forget about Hassel"back" but if returns healthy he might be a good late flyer. Willie Parker. After the top 10 of RBs go and we dig into a few QBs and top WRs this guy will be a gem under the radar. Reggie Wayne. This is going to be a very deep draft and I can see this guy slipping past even the Top 10 of WRs putting him into Round 3/4. Going RB/RB and then getting this guy would be a solid start. Zack Miller. Gonzo, Witten, Gates and Clark will go before their ADP taking away the "value". Tight Ends will again be deep so you can wait until you are full on RBs, WRs and have a starting QB. I mean there is still Winslow, Cooley, Daniels, Scheffler, Carleson and Scaife.
karmarooster 0 Posted December 30, 2008 RB - Ryan Grant. Only 4 TDs, but also 4 games with at least 100 yards. I think he was hurt by his holdout for a new contract, and got off to a slow start. He gets the carries tho, 20-30 carries often. I wouldn't touch him early, but if he falls to around the 5th round, he wouldn't be bad for a RB3 or 4. WR - Braylon Edwards. Maybe the biggest disappoint of the year. Partly his fault bc of the number of drops, partly the browns because of the O-line issues and QB problems. Next year Brady Quinn will be the guy going into camp, and should be pretty good. Quinn did over-rely on Winslow when he started, though. Edwards could be a WR3 with potential WR1 upside. I mean there is still Winslow, Cooley, Daniels, Scheffler, Carleson and Scaife. some good picks. I almost included hasselbeck in my list. if the seahawks get Crabtree it should help his value. imagine him throwing to Deion Branch, Crabtree, and Carleson. not bad. He's not flashy, but a solid backup or platoon QB. As for McNabb, it will depend on what happens with his situation. If he stays in Philly, yes for sure a value pick. If he doesn't, goes to Minny for example, I would be concerned about him putting up good stats with a new team, and one that runs the ball that much with AP. Willie Parker - he is such an enigma for next year. I almost included Rashard Mendenhall on my list. Between FWP, Mendenhall, and Mwelde Moore, there are alot of able bodies in that backfield. Now, Parker should be the first of them drafted, but if he makes it past the 5th round he could be a good value. This year, in the first 3 weeks, he looked like a top 10 back, but then never recovered his form after the injury. Reggie Wayne - What was his problem this year? he was healthy, peyton was winning games through the air, and the ground game was below average. I guess the ball just got spread around too much between Gonzalez and Dallas Clark. I wouldn't mind Wayne next year in the 3rd or 4th round at all. he was mr. consistency this year. Any Wayne owners or Indy homers know about his situation? what gives?
karmarooster 0 Posted December 31, 2008 Darren McFadden - He never emerged this year. I expect the raiders to roll with DMC and bush next year, because i dont think fargas is anything special. Both of these guys are talents, and fargas is just average. DMC never got over his turf toe this year, and never showed much except for the KC game. I think he was overhyped going into this year because of the Adrian Peterson effect. While he's not nearly as talented as AD, i think he could be a legit RB3. c'mon how about some discussion?? Giants Fan 85 Posted December 31, 2008 Depending .... RB - Ahmad Bradshaw If Ward get's traded ... he's primed for 1,000+ yards. Here's a little trivia question for you: What was the longest run from scrimmage in the 2007 (Giants Superbowl) regular season? HINT! .... it was an 88 yard TD .... and it wasn't Derrick Ward! Grant was one I was going to mention and for the reasons you stated. The other is going to be. Reggie Bush - He ended the year slow and with competition that performed well, which means people are going to sleep on him. I just think that you can't look at him as a typical RB. The Saints will find a way to use him often even if there is another productive back in the backfield. I know injuries are a possiblility with the kid, but if you can pick him up lat 3rd early 4th, you might be getting a steal. Vernon Davis - Yeah... a TE... I said it. TEs were mostly unspectacular this year. Even so, Davis was a huge disappointment. Since Martz - and his apparent hate for the TE position - is now gone, maybe they will bring in someone who realizes what they have in that kid. He is just a monster and should be a top 5 TE in the league. Terrell Owens - HAHAHAHA Just kidding.
tqracer97 0 Posted December 31, 2008 Marvin Harrison is likely gone so that means even more work for Reggie, so I don't seem him slipping to the 4th round.
CornKobb 48 Posted December 31, 2008 Tono Homo......falls a few rounds but still puts up top 6 qb stats imo. He will produce sept oct nov at least. Dang i got to quit banging on my pokes.....
karmarooster 0 Posted January 1, 2009 Steve Breaston I'm not sure about this one. If the cards get rid of Boldin, and its just Breaston and Fitz, then for sure he will be a great option because Fitz will draw double coverage all the time. But if the Cards re-sign boldin, there's no way Breaston improves on his stats from this year. As a 3rd WR, he had a great season this year, pretty similar to Stokely a few years ago with the colts (except stokely had 10 TDs). But as a 3rd WR, this seems like his cieling (stat line from this year): 77 catches / 1003 yards / 3 TDs arizona REALLY needs to keep boldin... he's what makes the team go. but lots of other teams are going to be after him. Do you think he'll stay or go?

He is just a monster and should be a top 5 TE in the league. Terrell Owens - HAHAHAHA Just kidding. Next year Reggie Bush will make the perfect Flex/RB3, but only in PPR. This year in my league he wen't in the 2nd round, and he was the #1 RB in PPR scoring for the frist few weeks of the season before he hurt his knee. After that, he was never the same. Pierre Thomas will push Reggie down a few rounds, and if he can be had in the 4th, he will be a great value. I can see both PT and Bush being worth a Flex/RB3 spot next year. As for Vernon Davis, he could be a great value next year because of his upside... he should go VERY late, but someone will probably take a chance on him for the same reason people have given him a chance the last few years.... a better TE with some decent value next year: Kellen Winslow. Because of his injuries he should fall a bit, but Brady Quinn will rely on him very heavily... in brady's first game, winslow had like 11 catches. In points per game this year, Winslow was the 7th best TE.
karmarooster 0 Posted January 1, 2009 Marques Colston - His year was ruined because of injury, so he had only only a handful of good games. When healthy, though, he's always capable of posting numbers like 7 catches for 130 yards and a TD. As long as Brees is the QB, he should be a top 10 WR. I was worried this year that he was becoming the next Michael Clatyon... but i think his problems were because of his injury. The thumb problem explains the number or drops. Do you think he'll stay or go? I think Boldin will be gone, especially with Steve Breaston's emergence, not to mention the contributions of a couple of other receivers. Remember, Boldin asked for a trade before the season started, and his displeasure was pretty public. I think he'll be gone, one way or the other, and Breaston's numbers will improve. I threw his name out there, knowing that he isn't as likely a candidate as some of these, but there is often cynicism to receivers stepping into different roles, and the annual question mark as to who is starting at QB, so it's probably best to call him a wait-and-see. Cuse9 129 Posted January 3, 2009 My views are for a fourteen team league...... Quarterback: Chad Pennington; Another year of Ginn getting better, Bess will have a year under his belt, Camarillo will be back, Fasano and Martin are a great TE combo. Then there is a chance the Phins will get Boldin, even if they don't Pennington has alot of weapons that can make things happenn on their own after short passes and there are great endzone targets to catapult his TD passes. Brady Quinn; Assuming he is the starter next year he'll have some quality weapons around him. Having Edwards, Stallworth, Jureviceus and Winslow is very promising for the Browns. Of course they all have to stay healthy and the new HC will have a little something to say about the type of offense they run, but Quinn should be a great guy to draft as your #2 or #3 to wait and see what he does. Running Back: Darren McFadden; Massive talent. I think he knows he was a disappointment and will work his tail of this off season to amend a terrible rookie year. Ryan Torain; In his one game (only a half at that) he showed he could be a force. Pending on whether or not the team drafts a RB (projecting Beanie Wells) Torain could be in for a huge year. Wide Receiver: Mark Clayton; With age catching up to Mason and Heap always being hurt, Clayton will be the #1 by default. However, with the way that Flacco kept getting better and better the combination of Flacco to Clayton could become a great one. Mark Bradley; The guy came on strong toward the end of the year. With Thigpen maturing and with Gonzo and Bowe getting the bulk of the attention could become a solid #3 wr. Mike Walker; Just when he started to come on he went down to injury. The Jags are dieing for a legit #1 wr and with all of Jones issues, Walker could emerge as a nice fantasy pick. Tight End: Greg Olsen; He had a pretty good year, but should be even better next year. A healthy Orton will help, getting Lloyd back should also give Olsen more opportunities in the endzone. John Carlson; He did pretty well this year for not having hardly anything around him. From week to week nobody knew who was gonna be starting at QB or WR's. Yet he still managed to do decent job in his rookie year. With a healthy Hasselbeck and some quality wr's around him he is a guy that will make the most of his opportunities.
robertd52 0 Posted January 4, 2009 Gonzalez might be nice...not sure whats up with Harrison, but I heard he might go. If he does, im sure Gonzalez will move up the charts come draft time, but he still could be a good steal. Wayne had 129 targets on the year, Clarke and Harrison had 107. Gonzalez had 78. From what I saw, Manning trusts the guy, it even showed in the playoff game.
