Giants Fan 85 Posted July 16, 2009 Lee Ving has still not left the building. They are God's of south Philly hardcore ... they wrote songs that made fun of what a joke the NYC punk "scene" was after like the Ramones and The Talking Heads bailed, "We aren't doing any more gigs at CB's .... it's too dangerous." Enter: Agnostic Front and the Cromags Not afraid of danger.

Giants Fan 85 Posted July 16, 2009 That was my introduction to American Hardcore ... FEAR, The Record. DK was too trendy for me. Circle Jerks was about as trendy as I got at the time. Really, what I liked was the British hardcore bands like Subhumans. Kids still listen to them today. But I always thought it was funny when people like Tipper Gore would say "Ice T is promoting violence with his 'rap' music." Meanwhile FEAR had lyrics like, "Steal the money from your Mother, BUY A GUN! Kill your mother and father!" Not much room for dispute on the meaning there. patweisers44 845 Posted July 16, 2009 I remember them ... kinda. No records or tapes I know of in my collection. from wikipedia: 1981 appearance on Saturday Night LiveThe band achieved notoriety through the move, attracting attention from actor John Belushi. Belushi got the band a spot as a musical guest on the 1981 Halloween episode of his former show Saturday Night Live. The band's appearance included a group of slamdancers, among them were Belushi, Ian MacKaye of Minor Threat (and later Fugazi), Harley Flanagan and John Joseph of The Cro-mags, and John Brannon of Negative Approach. Originally the show's director wanted to prevent the dancers from participating, so Belushi offered to be in the episode if the dancers were allowed to stay.[4] The end result was the shortening of Fear's appearance on TV. The band first performed "I Don't Care About You". The band started their second performance by saying, "It's great to be in New Jersey", to which the audience booed (the show was filmed in New York). Fear then played "Beef Bologna", "New York's Alright If You Like Saxophones", and started to play "Let's Have a War" when the audio and video of the telecast faded into commercial. During the performance the slamdancers left ripe pumpkin remains on the set and stage speakers. Belushi also offered Fear the soundtrack for his major motion picture Neighbors. The movie studio eventually forced Fear off the project after Belushi's death. Shortly after the 1981 Halloween SNL appearance, some of the nicer clubs chose not to hire Fear as a NY Post article falsely stated there was $20,000 in damage left after Fear's performance.
