Travolta 0 Posted August 19, 2009 Hi all. In my auction league we enforce a salary cap each week. Every player's salary is determined by the auction and undrafted players are assigned a low, but not minimum salary. For example, we each get a 200 dollar salary cap with a 1 dollar minimum bid. All undrafted players are assigned a salary of 5 bucks. This can cause a problem if you want to drop your 1 dollar kicker on his bye week and all the available kickers have a 5 dollar salary. What that means is that almost everyone leaves some of their salary cap unspent during the auction to accomodate transactions during the year. That strikes me as an inefficiency to be exploited, but I'm not sure the best way to adjust the values in the Cheatsheet Compiler to take advantage. Any suggestions? ~OMM~ 0 Posted August 19, 2009 How about using a $100 cap and making all free agents $1? Seems like a simple easy solution....that is how it is done in the auction league I participate anyhow. Good luck.
Homerj24 0 Posted August 19, 2009 Sounds like that structure needs to be re-worked. We start with $260 in our draft, but the cap increases to $300 after the draft. We then have weekly bidding on FA's (min bid of $10 for QB/RB/WR/TE and $1 for DST/K). It's worked well for years.
Ray_T 766 Posted August 19, 2009 how bout keep the same format, but when the draft is over, everyone gets 40 bucks. This allows a team to do 8 transactions for the year and if they have any other money left over from the auction they will be able to do more.
Travolta 0 Posted August 20, 2009 Thanks for the suggestions, but I don't think anyone else in the league minds the structure. I am just convinced that not spending all of my money during the auction is a mistake. So, what I've done in the past is draft a backup kicker and backup defense for the minimum during the auction so that I can spend all of my money and not worry about it during the season. It just kills me to have 2 kickers on my team coming out of the draft.
