trying to get MJD...

Recommended Posts

alright the MJD owner just lost Ronnie Brown and has no other starting RBs on his roster or really any starting WRs on his roster. Guy is 10-10 and currently tied for wild card spot but there is no way he makes playoffs with his roster now. So i am of course trying to get MJD. I realize i have all the advantage and trying to take full advantage of it. :D

we start-QB, 2-RB, 2-WR, Flex, TE, K, Def

his roster-

QB-Mcnabb and Matt Ryan

RB-MJD, Bernard Scott, C Jennings(browns RB), Larry Johnson, Lendale White, R. Jennings, Ronnie Brown

WR-L. Coles, Mike Wallace, Nate Washington, J Cotchery

TE-Winslow

K-Carpenter

Def-Vikings

my roster-

QB-Romo, Hasslebeck

RB-LT, Sjax, Slaton, Maroney, D Sproles, Sammy Morris

WR-Randy Moss, Welker, D. Avery

TE-Carlson, Watson

K-Kaeding

DEF-Giants and Titans

Normally i would agree my offers are a little light but i think he has no choice but to trade MJD or to not make playoffs. He needs starters BAD

-I offered Slaton and Maroney for MJD and he said NO way in hell

-I offered LT and Maroney for MJD and he said NO way in hell

-I offered LT, Sproles and Maroney for MJD and Jennings said no way in hell

anyone have any better ideas?? i think he is in a position where he has to do something

As a fellow MJD owner who just lost Ronnie Brown and has (mostly) no other starting RBs on his roster, I answer with a little pain in my heart...

Truth be told, if he even has a hint of the playoffs, I don't see him letting MJD go unless either Moss or Welker are in the deal. Offering only RBs without WRs is downgrade with no upside...

Thanks for your response.

I would think this type of deal would have to start with Slaton and Welker

Ideally your down trade him on RB you need to offer some incentive at WR (his suck)

Moss's stats are worth almost a player and a half, I think you can do good with Moss and Avery

Your asking the guy to give a top 3 back you need to give him some incentive

Everyone knows LT sucks

It gives him a top WR (based on who he has) plus he stills keeps a decient RB in place of MJD

i would not trade Moss strait up for MJD. I was trying to find a deal where i could offer him Welker but the rest of his team is so bad. The reason he has to do something is he needs starters and needs them bad. Atleast by giving him 2 starting RBs for one he upgrades his lineup?? oh well its not end of world for me if he does not trade MJD just end of his season.

i offered him one last one. I want to try and put Welker in the deal but his WRs are so bad it not worth it to give away 3 of my starters for one of his. So im done tryin

i sent one more offer of: Slaton, Maroney, Morris and Avery for MJD and his backup.

Avery is better than any WR he has so ill just let him lose and be done with it and if someone else wants to give away players than so be it.

The only way I see him moving MJD is for SJax and LT or SJax, Maroney and Welker. I just dont' know if either one of those helps you enough to do it

gotta give up Sjax and Welker for MJD and J Cotchery /Nate Washington.

if ya believe in avery then keep'em!

I'd even throw in LT or sproles in the mix :wall: - neither has really done any thing so far...gotta give up a lot for RB like MJD on a run first offense...look, you got depth - you only start 2 WRs so I'd give it up to get it . your team would still be a strong contender esp. w MJD - moss - slayton - flex a NE RBor grab a deep sleeper off waivers

nah MJD not that much better than Sjax to sell the farm for him. Ill let him keep MJD and he wont make the playoffs. He the one that needs players not me thats why i was trying to hold his feet to fire

The guy in my league who had MJD and Ronnie Brown just traded MJD by himself for Forte, Jamaal Charles, and MSW. So an LT, Slaton, and Welker for MJD with him throwing in one of his bench WRs would be pretty comparable in my opinion. I'm not sure if I'd do it in your case though. It's giving up a ton of depth for one player.

yea no way i make a trade giving up all those players. I traded all my depth last week to up grade #2 WR to Welker, get LT, get all my backups and got Slaton today. I sured up my lineup ready for playoff run. Im currently in first in my division and of course i would take MJD but only for 2 of my RBs. I tried to find a mix with Welker but his team is so bad i would not want any of his WRs.

I would not even trade him LT and Slaton for MJD. dont think its worth it. Id rather start Sjax, LT and Slaton than Sjax, MJD and Maroney.

Listen, you need to actually offer him something worth value in return. Even if you think his team is crap, why would he take more crap for his best player?

LT + Marony <<< MJD

LT + Sproles + Maroney <<< MJD + Jennings

hey i realize that  I am or was hoping he would be desprate enough to pull trigger. IF you look at his roster i posted you would see he should be very desprate and has to make a move. There is only one other person i think in league that has enough to help him and he said he is going to let him sink  When i was offering all these little hopefull trades Brown was not officially done and now he is.

i offered him LT and Slaton but pulled it. IF he does not get another offer he will come back begging

look at this roster and tell me you would not make one of those deals. i know they are not fair market value but you have to get what you can if you want to make playoffs and no way he does with out it.

his roster-

QB-Mcnabb and Matt Ryan

RB-MJD, Bernard Scott, C Jennings(browns RB), Larry Johnson, Lendale White, R. Jennings, Ronnie Brown(done)

WR-L. Coles, Mike Wallace, Nate Washington, J Cotchery

TE-Winslow

K-Carpenter

Def-Vikings

It cracks me up that you think that that dude would be so desperate after losing Ronnie Brown. Looking at his lineup, he should have been desperate around week 4.

Still, why should he give up on his season to help you out? And he might still be clinging to a sliver of hope with Benson nicked up and both Bengal backups on his bench.

As an MJD owner....and a Ronnie Brown owner, I'd be a little ticked if I was made those same offers. It was clear you were trying to take advantage of the situation and made no attempt to initiate a fair trade offer.

You pass it off as "oh well, better luck next year loser"....but if that dude is like me, I remember the absurdly lowball offers from owners trying to fleece me and it carries forward to the next year.

Not only did you fail to make a deal this year, you might have screwed yourself out of one in the future too.

he is not helping me that much. I dont care if i make the trade or not. Im in first right now and am gonna make playoffs he on the other hand is 10-10 and tied for last spot. Yes i was trying to take advantage of the situation. no doubt about that. He is the one that needs help and needs starters not me.

i dont know about you but if it was me i would not want to give up on this season and would make a deal. If nothing better comes than id take anyone of my offers. He needs starters and when you can get 3 starters for giving up 1 i dont see that as that bad of trade off.

and why would you be pissed? Its not my fault he put his team in such a bad situation. I am in it to win it and if someone needs a player desperate enough they will deal.

Another guy offered him Peyton, Stewart and Bradshaw i think for McNabb and MJD and he turned that down as well. He just traded Ochostinko for McNabb and is now screwed.

when your starting RBs are MJD, Lendale White and Bernard Scott(if benson does not play)

and

your starting WRs are Lavernous Coles and Cotchery

thats a #1 RB and 2 guys that may get 4 touches. and 2 WRs who are not much better than #3 WRs

atleast in LT or Slaton you get a #2 RB possibly a #1 RB and Maroney a #2 RB and Avery who is a high #3 or low #2. So that is 3 starters help. I guess you can hope MJD gets you 40 pts and maybe the rest each get around 4 pts and hope you opponent has bad week.

I agree that his team is screwed....but as an MJD owner I am in love with the guy. Not that anyone has inquired about him in my league nor have I been shopping him around, but I place his value at sky freaking high.....meaning I'd swap AD/CJ3.....Moss....Brady/Manning.....and even then, there's such an affinity for the only guy on my team who I can really count on, I'd be hesitant to trade him for those guys even.....it's not like I'm getting all that much more in return.

I understand your motivation for offering the trade.....but I don't think you understand his reason to decline your offer. You make it sound like he's kinda crazy for turning down 3 starters for 1.....but MJD is his team. You gotta understand that being a FF player.....we all develop strong attachments to the guys who help carry our teams.

I guess I can sympathize.....I'm 4-6 despite having a pretty solid team.....if someone approached me with an obvious lowball offer.....you have to admit, MJD is worth a permiere talent in return, and you're not even offering good players in return, just bodies capable of starting....I'd be insulted that you'd think I was soooo desperate to the point of being dumb. That other owner is frustrated and maybe he's already resigned himself to the fact that this isn't his year.....I know I would be.....but I sure as hell would rather lose with a team I cobbled together in the spirit of competition than trade my stud to better the first place team in my league.

That's just me I guess.

:dunno:

I think most people are guilty of the "low ball offer hoping someone is desperate" every once in a while, but you can't get upset when someone turns you down from trading a STUD for a bunch of #1's and #2's. If I were him, and his season is over like you say, then I would have WAY more fun watching MJD play on my team and try to upset other teams and ruin their playoff chances, rather than throw in the towel and watch a bunch of lesser players.

guy i work with is in same league offered the MJD owner a dam good trade. He offered Ricky Williams, McCoy and Greg Jennings or Manningham for MJD, his backup Jennings, and Lendale White. The MJD owner turned that down as well

I don't think there is much else you can do. The MJD owner wants the world for him and thinks any reasonable trade is not enough. He would probably only trade MJD for someone as hot like CJ.

i sent him back my "low ball" offer of Slaton, Maroney, Morris, and Avery for MJD and his backup Jennings just in case he becomes desperate around midnight tonight
