Waivers: Rolling List, Reverse Standings, or Reverse Last Perfomance

I manage a Yahoo league, where the waiver priority is a continual rolling list. The reverse order of the draft determines the starting priorities. The list does not reset after each week.

 

Some other leagues set the weekly waiver priority based on the reverse of the league standings, or the reverse of the past week's performance.

 

Personally I prefer a continual rolling list, as it allows everyone a fair chance at waiver pickups throughout the year. Just because you drafted poorly, or didn't set your lineup very well, I don't think you should be rewarded for what could be the pickup of the year.

If you can't do Waiver Wire auctions then the continual rolling WW priority is the best imo.

IMHO, yearly leagues almost require a rolling list. it takes a few weeks for "standings" to indicate team strength and LW performance is just stoopid, every FF team has a donut week once in a while. everyone should have a dumb luck chance to get the early WW prize... just hope you get it the week that prize is worth a plug f'en nickel

Rolling by a mile, there is no way a team that is stacked but just lost(happens), should have 1st dibs on a great pickup just because his team underperformed and/or his opponents played WAY over their heads and he lost.

This just happened in my league and it's ridiculous, that guy would have been like 8th priority in a rolling wire....now his team is loaded even more, and folks that SHOULD have had a shot didn't because their players got lucky and their opponent's team blew chunks and gave it up like a crack ho on Main St.

 

That's like the commish saying " Hey you sux so bad that we are going to give you the opportunity to have great players all the way through your bench, that way no matter who you play, you have a shot....even if you don't pay attention and move players around you won't have to worry, EVERYONE will be a stud"

 

Reverse standings and performance blow, some folks will hold their priority until they REALLY need someone, or a GREAT player becomes available, the other ways you just need to suck to have a shot at the best pickups.......bah
