Boilermaker04 11 Posted August 1, 2011 Would you all draft MJD at top of 2nd round or are you staying away from him there too? If by the top you mean if I'm 10-12 (2.1, 2.2etc.) no probably not. I'm thinking a high end WR may be available still at that point, and I'd rather have CJ, Roddy, or Fitz over MJD. I'd rather have Mendenhall, McFadden, and Forte over MJD too. All opinions subject to change That being said, if he were to fall to me at the end of the 2nd round...I probably wouldn't be able to pass him up.
Fantasy Noob 10 Posted August 1, 2011 Turner, Gore, Sjax I am avoiding in the 1/2 rounds after that the potential upside is too much to overlook. I like MJD but not in a top 5 pick, getting at the tail end of the first round seems a fair gamble for a workhorse RB. He is there offense they don't have any other choice but to trot him out there. Call me crazy but I would let Peterson slide to middle of first round too, I think that Vikings team is done. I would put Foster, CJ, Charles, Rice in front of him and in PPR throw McCoy in front of him too.

Not going to go in great detail but I thought I read an article that said the Vikes team basically performed the same last season in most stats as the NFC Champ game team except Favre was beyond horrible thus a 12-4 team became 6-10 or whatever they were. So not sure if done is the right word. McNabb just needs to be solid and AP will be also.
c9h13no3 0 Posted August 1, 2011 Busts at RB (other than catastrophic injuries) tend to occur for two reasons. 1) Old (28+ y/o) running backs decline. Examples: Portis/Westbrook 2009, Jamal Lewis/Edgerrin James 2008, Shaun Alexander/Rudi Johnson 2007 2) Young & unproven backs have too much improvement already projected into their price. Examples: Cedric Benson 2007, Ryan Mathews/Shonn Greene 2010 Do Not Draft List: Running Backs Michael Turner - Age 29, recent surgery, too much risk for an early pick. Steven Jackson - Age 28, McDaniels will run less. Frank Gore - Age 28, New coach may run less. Legarrette Blount - ADP is RB15, if he still averages 11.7 fppg like last year, he'll only be RB18. Price assumes too much improvement Shonn Greene - ADP is RB18 but finished about RB40 in 2010, Assumes significantly increased workload over 2010's 12.3 carries per game, but LT/McKnight/Bilal still in backfield. You could talk me into putting MJD on the list. He's only 26 though, and if he does well in training camp I'll probably be drafting him.
