Hightower was already lacking burst and elusiveness before he tore his ACL last year. Now just 10 months removed from surgery, he wasn't ready to contribute. That leaves Evan Royster, Roy Helu and Alfred Morris as a three-headed backfield for Mike Shanahan entering Week 1.
