jhud423 0 Posted September 13, 2012 My RB's are MJD, CJ2K, Rashaad Jennings, and Redman. Thinking hard about claiming Spiller off waivers tonight and dropping Jennings or Redman, but I am worried Spiller won't start for more than a few weeks, and I'd like to save that #2 waiver for someone who will be productive all year. Thoughts?
jerryskids 6,592 Posted September 13, 2012 You probably won't have to worry because the #1 waiver will probably grab him. But if not, you'd be a fool not to grab him. The reason most of us aren't discussing it is that he is owned in most leagues. He has more value than Jennings even if FJax comes back full strength. I can virtually guarantee that no RB will emerge with more potential than Spiller has right now.

If Cobb is available too, have one out for him too, though I don't know who I'd prefer. Spiller has more short term upside, but when Jackson comes back, Cobb's value will be more. But as jerryskids said, you'd be a fool not to grab him.

jhud423 0 Posted September 13, 2012 Thanks guys. I'm not really worried about WR's at the moment, because I have Julio, Dez, and Desean (Heyward-Bey and Titus Young at backup). We are only allowed to have 4 RBs on the roster, and Redman and Jennings are obviously worthless. So unless it's McCluster who is listed as RB, WR I'm only interested in RB's at this point. Leaning Spiller at this point.
Ditka vs. ______ 0 Posted September 13, 2012 You would be crazy not to grab him off the WW. GET HIM NOW!!! - He is way better than your already injured Jennings.

Leaning Spiller at this point. Even if Spiller only starts for four weeks (worst case scenario), that's four games you're now more likely to win - that's a little under a third of the fantasy season. Isn't that worth a #2 claim? Why save it - it's no given that someone will come along later with the kind of value Spiller currently has. A couple of years ago, it was early in the season when Hillis was pressed into starting duties. His first start was 144 yards against a tough Baltimore defense - not that different from 190+ yards against a tough Jets defense. How many people passed on him after that, looking for something better later on? How many of those people who passed ended up getting better value later on with their claims? I'd wager not many. You take Spiller, and it's not even close. You don't lean towards Spiller. You fall head over heels in love with him, and make an animal sacrifice to the fantasy gods, praying the guy with the #1 claim doesn't grab him first. RaiderHaters Revenge 4,247 Posted September 13, 2012 I dont want to be a total ######, but if you have to ask whether to grab Spiller, who just put up a monster game in only 3q's against the Jets, then you might want to find another hobby Not only do you add him you start him over CJ0K every week

Just never actually been in a league with waivers set up this way....that's all.
josepaz2 1 Posted September 13, 2012 Do it, and then name your next son C.J. after he wins you the championship.
nadnewob 1 Posted September 13, 2012 Do it, and then name your next son C.J. after he wins you the championship. He is the most obvious waiver claim in a long, long time. As others have said I dont know what kind of league this is if he is available. Someone mentioned Cobb over Spiller in a PPR??? its not even close. Spiller has 4 weeks to show everyone what he can do, they are not going to relegate him to a backup role when/if FJAX comes back. Get him, and sneak sleepng pills into the guy with the #1 waiver priority's drink tonight, because he is going to claim him otherwise.

SabreNation 3 Posted September 13, 2012 Well, I think consensus is pretty clear at this point but I'll throw another voice into the choir. You should literally give up fantasy football and check yourself into an insane asylum tomorrow if you don't put the claim in for Spiller. I watched every play of the game on Sunday. Every play of that awful, miserable, embarrassing display of football ineptitude. Spiller didn't just look as good as he did last year when he averaged over 100 yards and a TD a game as the feature back, he looked 10 times better. He was more decisive having abandoned the Barry-esque dancing in favor of the one cut and GO style you need in today's NFL. He was tougher - running between the tackles and shedding potential tacklers who would've brought him down with ease in the past two season. Oh and he was FASTER. Go to NFL.com and watch the 68 yard touchdown run. He was flying in 6th gear and the Jets defenders looked like they were stuck in reverse. Did I mention that he did all of that against essentially the same defense that held him to his worst game as a starter a year ago? (3.9ypc last year - 12.1ypc last Sunday... a slight improvement.) I will honestly be shocked if Fred Jackson gets his starting role back when he returns from this injury. Don't get me wrong, Fred is still a damn good football player and he is still going to get some playing time but this is CJ's chance to take the torch and run with it and he played last Sunday like he knew that. I'd bet the farm that he remains #1 on the Buffalo depth chart for the rest of this year.
jerZooy 0 Posted September 13, 2012 Spiller all the way, Redman is out, either Dwyer or Mendenhall will carry the load after week one and Mendenhall is nearly full strength. Question

So now, I am stuck with the #1 claim to hold as long as I'd like AND I picked up Leshoure and Moreno as Free Agents. Pretty sure I came out on top here.....damn you guys act like Spiller is the next Adrian Peterson. Clearly if he was THAT good there would have never been a competition. He was just playing mad on Sunday. He cools off....mark my words.
