dpbuddha 9 Posted September 19, 2012 I have not done any kind of research on this, so that's my disclaimer. I was wondering what trends there might be, if any, about how teams perform on a short week. Does it benefit the offense because the defenses didn't get a full week of recovery and time to prepare for the offensive scheme? Does it somehow favor the defense for some reason I can't even think of? The point of the question is whether a Thursday night game should be considered as a tie-breaker when trying to decide who to start and one is playing on a short week. It seems to me that it should favor the offense, but does it?
idiotec 31 Posted September 19, 2012 I think they can tend to be sloppier games. 3 day shorter week is A LOT. I would think if anything it really favors the home team, take an already very short week and add a travel day = brutal.
kmbryant09 1 Posted September 19, 2012 I, too, have no research to back this up. But I feel like Prime Time games have been much lower scoring than anticipated. Atlanta vs. Denver was supposed to be a shootout. 27-21 (and 13 points were handed to Atlanta from turnovers). Green Bay vs. Chicago was supposed to be a shootout. 23-10 Dallas vs. New York was supposed to be a shootout. 24-17 (7-3 at half)
