I guess these guys are implying some sort of sexual or pedo type voyeurism? Let's just be honest, that says a lot more about their thought process than anything else. 

Nah, I just think it's odd and unnecessary.  It wouldn't even cross my mind to friend one of my kids' friends so I can keep tabs on their SM use.

In your case, I would agree that you should stay out of your kid's business. Maybe they will have a chance to grow up with a clear logical head on their shoulders.
