Mike Honcho 5,280 Posted December 18, 2023 Good morning! For the first time since before Thanksgiving, I'm in the office on a Monday. Woke up on Thanksgiving with a sore throat, turned out to be influenza and I was out of the office until last Thursday. Pretty crazy, it's the most consecutive sick days I've taken since the 4th grade when I got pneumonia. Worked from home most of the time, my basement office has really paid for itself...that and the super high speed internet we have in my neighborhood and at the office. Not coughing...what a great feeling. On this day in 1964 Filming is completed for "Star Trek" pilot "The Cage"; cast includes Jeffrey Hunter, Susan Oliver, Leonard Nimoy, and Majel Barret; although it never airs, some footage re-used in "Menagerie" episode of the series---I've seen the Menagerie, one of the original series best episodes. Also on this day 1966 Dr. Seuss' "How the Grinch Stole Christmas!" airs for 1st time on CBS; animated special directed by Chuck Jones, features voices of Boris Karloff, June Foray, and Thurl Ravenscroft, with songs by Albert Hague --- the little dog in that cartoon has me in stitches every time i see him. Every geek, have a great week.
