peenie 1,906 Posted August 13, 2024 You guys, I have these shrubs in front of my house. They flower white flowers (and I think even pink flowers), they have furry leaves and a billionty mosquitoes. I only go out my side door because if I open my front door at least 4 mosquitoes will fly in. It looks like gnats are always swarming around them but they’re mosquitoes! I’ve been bit so many times since I’ve moved into this house that it doesn’t even bother me that much anymore. I just constantly have mosquito bites. I never even water the darn shrubs. I’m thinking to just cut them down. Do any of you guys have plants that don’t attract mosquitoes? And, a neighbor said to me, why don’t you trim them up? I never thought about it. They don’t grow big. But they’re not evenly shaped. I only tell the lawn guy to cut the grass. I didn’t know to tell him to also trim the shrubs.
shorepatrol 1,870 Posted August 13, 2024 All shrubs attract mosquitos. I removed all of my Bougainvillea in the backyard before summer and not a single mosquito bite this summer.

I didn’t know mosquitoes were so attracted to flowers, I thought they grew near standing/stagnant water. Yo, I don’t know ANYTHING about outdoor plants or lawn care.
