"J powell said that the tariffs have added 1% to inflation so far, should be 2% but we're at 3%." Are you going to dispute that? Where did I say 3% was too high to allow for a cut? I'll wait. Either way, he cut rates meaning inflation is not high regardless of the tariffs. If they were high because of tariffs he damn sure wouldn’t have cut. They may be higher but not too high like you seem to think. Or am I wrong you don’t think tariffs have made inflation HIGH?

I think it's pretty clear what I meant by what I actually said... 1 hour ago, Ron_Artest said: I don't get the "Doh!" as I'm not arguing against cutting the rates. Anyway, Powell is pretty clear as well, if you actually read the minutes... The Committee seeks to achieve maximum employment and inflation at the rate of 2 percent over the longer run. Uncertainty about the economic outlook remains elevated. The Committee is attentive to the risks to both sides of its dual mandate and judges that downside risks to employment rose in recent months. As I said, the job risks are higher than the inflation risks. We could also see tariffs removed at any moment, either by SCOTUS or by an emotional decision by a deeply disturbed person. This is another reason why we should follow the constitution and have congress keep this power.
