I'm going to be starting a new job on April 15, so my availability during the day for a while will be minimal. So, I want to try and get as much input as possible over the next week as to a final decision on when the draft should be, rules changes, what type of league (dynasty/redraft) and other crap. If everyone could answer the following two questions it will help me decide. Final decisions on the date and type of league will be made probably the first part of May. Keep in mind that when deciding on a draft date the following, 1) not all of us are going to be around during the summer months due to vacations or what have you and 2) this draft will take some time due to the availability of all of us. Last year there were mixed feelings on having the draft in early or mid June due to injuries, depth charts, blah blah blah. If were going to get the draft in before the season starts, I have a feeling the draft will take around a month to complete and that's if everyone is available at least once a day. If we wait until August then it will be almost impossible to complete the draft because vacations, people preparing for other drafts, and so on will be problems. My personal opinion is having the draft starting around the 2nd week of July at the absolute latest. Anyhow, that's just a few things to discuss and consider for the time being. In a couple of weeks, I'll post a rough draft of the rules and would appreciate opinions on what you like/don't like/change/whatever.

1) What type of league do you want (dynasty or redraft)?

2) When do you want to start the draft?

The danger with having it in mid-August is that the time limit in between picks will be 2 hours tops. So, unless someone leaves a list I'll be making picks for them and they'll be suckass picks.

1. Whatever - dynasty, redraft (as long as the site doesn't go pay, I'll be around...never done a dynasty league - but I'll try it)

 

2. Mid July sounds good. That's around when we did it last year right? It'll screw up certain picks (a la Jamal Lewis), but overall we have to do it early.

 

Concerns not asked about, but I'll be free to comment on anyway (even though they'll probably be asked about at a later date) :

 

a) defensive scoring rules obviously have to be modified.

Do we want to change amount of starters? Add a flex position?

1. I don't care what kind of league it is as long as the rules are explained. Although a dynasty would be a little tough considering I don't have a team yet.

2. July-August is ok, but I will probably be a night drafter and may need to work something out with the league funer so I don't have a bunch of nipples on my team.
