There's a handful of countries all looking to stake their claims.

- Especially with the NorthWest passage and of course all the oil/gas.

 

This is a huge friggin base - Shiit could get scary. Also, Russia has a probably two dozen bases on their far north eastern shores .

Interesting, good watch, thanks for posting. I wouldn't say it is a huge base, but it is disconcerting that we are not in a position to stop Putin from expanding and claiming that arctic oil. We have 1.5 icebreakers? What is 1/2 of an icebreaker? "Hi, my name is Jerry, nice..."?

I tell ya whut, one of our guys got a tanker stuck off the coast of Adak Island, AK.

 

basically, it's a navy/air base that we literally just gave to one of the Inuit tribes.

Landing strips, docks, even a damn observation tower.

 

I've said since then that if/when the Russians want to establish a foothold, they hit that first.

Wouldn't even need to fire a shot. Just give the Chief a case of scotch and they're in.
