Not Four but maybe two and while one or even none is allowed, their shall not be more than three.
whoisjgalt 0 Posted September 16, 2005 I realize that it won't affect the results, but why am I last? Scatter outscored me and we're both 1-0. (I thought that we took out the division wins since they are grossly unfair to the teams that get stuck playing division games early - since playing them early is just a matter of bad luck.) Suggestion for next off season: 1) Total Wins + (0.5 * Total Ties) where lowest gets first priority 2) Points Scored For where lowest gets first priority 3) Points Scored Against where highest gets first priority 4) Dice Roll using the Irony Mail Roll application where lowest gets first priority
Orgazmo 2 Posted September 17, 2005 So I'm punished because Bernie scored more than your opponent? According to the rules, yes. I can't believe it hasn't been noticed until now, but Dan, was there a reason to have "points against" to be a determining factor before "points for"? And since it doesn't specify, is it higher or lesser points against being the deciding factor?
Dan Sez 0 Posted September 17, 2005 Losing (or winning) against weaker or stronger opponents. Who's Team is number one because not only did he win his game but also against the greatest opposition. Correspondingly Blitzen is the last team because not only did he lose, but lost against the lowest scoring winner. If it is a problem, then lets talk about it in January. It has been this way although maybe masked somewhat by the Division Wins filter. I guess it has a bit of luck involved in it but basically it is an effort to interp some form of "tougher schedule" into the mix of rankings instead of just the straight Wins/Points output of your own team. Dan Sez 0 Posted September 17, 2005 So I'm punished because Bernie scored more than your opponent? According to the rules, yes. So instead of this being the first game of the year, assume it is the last. Would Who be "punished" with the championship of his division with this same rank order? whoisjgalt 0 Posted September 17, 2005 Dan - I'm suggesting that points scored is a better indication of team strength than points against. If my team scores 250 this week and faces a team that only scores 50, then which figure is a better indication of my team's relative strength? I'd get to have my team's FA needs filled ahead of the guy who won 115-105. Clearly IMO the guy who only got 115 would have more problems that need addressing via FA than my team would. This is a topic for the off-season - we're not going to change this rule now (and in fact we cannot). But I'm just documenting my ideas for that time.
