skittles 0 Posted August 17, 2006 Okay, so I've been a strong advocate of the WR-WR idea. But the more reading I do, the more of a wakeup call I'm having. ###### WRs, I'm taking me some RBs. I have strong reason to believe I'll get either Steven Jackson or Clinton Portis at #10 overall. I know, insanity, but thats the way it is looking. I'm strongly considering taking Reggie Bush at pick #15. Scoring, before we go farther: 6 pts all tds, 1 per 10 ru/rec, 1 per 25 pa, 1 ppr. Okay, anyway. If I don't take Reggie there, I KNOW he won't make it back up to me, obviously. I want him for two reasons: a) I'm high on him. cool.gif He will be MASSIVE trade bait in our league. We have 3 or 4 marks or noobies, that I know will overvalue him. One nice game (either in preseason, or regular) and I could get me something very nice for him. The "marks" as I call them, are very high on name value. They buy into the ESPN hype machine, in other words. I know, I'm being hypocritical, because I may be overvaluing him myself. What do you think of all of this?
Jeremy 0 Posted August 17, 2006 I personally think that's too high for him, but you know your league better than I do. Certainly a RB at #10 is wise. Bush is a hard one to figure out. Could be huge, could be very average (in terms of fantasy production). I guess I wouldn't fault you for going for it, especially if you think you can fleece somone in a trade. He's bound to look real good in the preseason when teams are playing vanilla defenses and not really game planning for him.
Hampton 0 Posted August 17, 2006 Crazy like a fox. I've got the same pick and I'm personally hoping for Manning to fall- same scoring system. My league has a bunch (me among them) of high believers in RB-RB, so it could happen. If it does, I'm leaving the McGahee, Westbrook, DD, JJ, KJ, etc. headache for the others. JOHN 316 7 Posted August 18, 2006 If you can get Portis or Jackson at 10....that's awesome. Who besides BUSH do you expect to be available at 15? If the newbs are as hign on BUSH as you say, he might not get to you at 15. IF he does, it would be reaching for him a bit, but like you say, if you can trade him away for better value later it's a good deal. It this a $$ league ? Thanks for input to mine. FBH ** 0 Posted August 18, 2006 I would never draft someone with the purpose of trading him in the future, especially with a 2nd round pick. These top three picks are too valuable to potentially waste. If this is your strategy good luck with it, I just hope that you don't get burned and have Reggie as your RB2 if he is only getting 10 touches and none near the goal line. I hope that Portis or SJAx fall into your lap, I have them 5 and 6 in my PPR league. And SJax is moving up every day. With one of those two on the team, I would feel a little better about the possibilty of taking Bush, but it is a gamble.
Ray_T 753 Posted August 18, 2006 Bush is only worth taking that high in a keeper league or a dynasty league. this year he will be an adequate backup RB but not a starter (due to shared time with McAllister) that could change by mid season, but there is no guarantee that this is the case. as you said this is a redraft league, I'd consider him in round 3.
