Drop someone for a kicker or play without one?

Recommended Posts

10 team yahoo league. Start 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1K, 1 DEF.

Quarterbacks:

Marc Bulger

Running Backs:

Steven Jackson

Ronnie Brown

Carnell Williams

Rueben Droughns

Frank Gore

Ahman Green

Laurence Maroney

WR:

Santana Moss

Javon Walker

Terry Glenn

TJ Houshmandzadeh

Marques Colston

TE:

Chris Cooley

K:

???

Def:

Jacksonville

I was thinking of either dropping Glenn (bye) or Green this week but I'm leaning towards Glenn right now. I could also just opt to play without a kicker this week. What do you guys think? I also couldn't pull off any trade throughout the week either.

Why didnt you drop your original kicker and get another? I assume you had one. Do you really want to let another owner get Glenn(temporarily #1 in Dallas) or a starting RB in Green???????????? If you have to drop someone, I would drop Droughns (vs Ravens) I dont think anyone would pick him up this week vs Ravens and you could get him back Tuesday if you think you need him

Droughn's is on the can't cut list on yahoo. I dropped my oriignal kicker to pick up Housh off Waivers.

Ya, how did you get in this situation?

I'd keep Glenn for sure especially with TO breaking his own fingers to not look like a puss.

I'm not sure how bad Housh's injury is. Maybe he'd be an option.

AG is hurt and could open the door to Morency.

Colston is a marginal player, and maybe the least likely one that you would start this season.

Those are the three I'd consider, in that order.

Thanks FAM

With Droughns on can't-cut I'd maybe trade out Steven Jackson for a kicker

I'd even think about cutting at least one or 2 other RB's to fill Bye's or add depth at other slots like QB if anything is out on the WW in your league...7 RB's seems a little bit out there man, considering you can start, at most 3 (using one in W/R)...maybe engineer a trade with the RB's, but you really need more depth unless you want to play musical waivers as you go through the season picking up random junk to fill bye weeks

TDHauler - bear in mind he's playing a Yahoo! league which allows Colston as a TE, for that reason alone I'd keep him on the roster

I didn't realize that with Colston. Remove him from my drop list.

Ya, this post is getting a little fishy with that Sjax for kicker remark.

If you can only start 2 RB's there is no reason to have 7 on your roster. I would either cut Droughns or Green, probably Droughns. I wouldn't even think about not starting a kicker for the week. You never know what will be the difference between a win or a loss and you want to maximize your points every week. Having a kicker who gets 3 field goals and an extra point is a very real possibility. That would be 10 points which is the equivalent of your runningback having 100 yards rushing in most leagues. That's the not the type of production you want to sacrifice because you're not willing to drop Reuben Droughns who will never start for you anyways.

Re-reading the post I'm not sure who I was thinking of in place of Jackson...but obviously not the correct person...

maybe drop Ahman Green? I don't know...it's 2:30 and I'm boarder-line delusional here

but honestly...what sort of league lets 7 RB's of this calibre drop into a single team...a team that also has pretty good players at every other position...

I play in a 10 man league and I don't think I could've gotten any 4 of those RB's and had a balanced team everywhere else...

Drop Droughns or Green. They would never find their way into your starting line up with Brown, SJax, Gore, Williams and Maroney. Your WR need work! Trade one of the backs for a Very Good WR. Play Colson at WR. He is getting way more looks than Cooley. Unfair that he is listed as a TE/WR but play the cards as delt.

Not having a Kicker on your team is ridiculous. I am guessing you dropped your kicker to pick up Colston. Please tell me that in week 7 you have a QB that can play on your roster. Sure you got depth at RB but the rest is well...not great. You could have a great team if you get creative.
