worth taking a shot for s-jax?

Recommended Posts

here's a trade proposal i have on the table.

i give up: ap, harrison, edwards, and cutler

i get: s-jax, roy williams, and derrick ward

i like williams better than harrison, so that's a big plus for me. edwards has been decent, but he wouldn't get much time in my lineup anyway ... i'm probably gonna drop reggie brown for bowe and then i'll still have calvin. cutler is inconsequential to me since i have vince young. i realize my rb 2 position would be weaker without being able to play s-jax until the injury heals up, but i could play ward or foster there and then i'll be able to finish the season strong (hopefully) with gore + s-jax + boldin/ocho/williams ...

anyway ... how many people think this would be stupid or would it be a good trade in the long-term? thanks for the input, will reply to yours as well.

I think you sit tight with what you have... With what i have seen from St. Louis S. Jax healthy aint that impressive without Pace to pave the way for him... Plus once Jacobs comes back Ward's numbers are going to drop

what you forget is that pace was out last year too, and he's more of a pass blocker than run blocker. but their o-line is decimated, and i realize that hurts ... but he's still s-jax. i dunno ... maybe it'd be smart to stick with ap though, but i still want roy williams and the thought of having gore and s-jax team up is pretty appealing.

i think ap is the deal breaker as he looks to have a great year, likely equalling what s-jax will do considering his recent production and his time off. it will take him a while to get back into the swing of things. ward will also share time once jacobs is back.

although roy williams is great, harrison is no slouch.

stick with what you have.

does everyone honestly think ap will be a top 10 rb by the end of the year? or that he won't go down with injury? or that chester taylor won't eat into his production?

the guy also has lamont jordan, who i could target as well ... i just want roy williams out of the trade, mostly. harrison looks like he's slowing down and peyton has been throwing to dallas clark constantly and just handing off to addai.

I would not take that deal because as we hear more info on Sjax I wonder if he wont be out more like 4-6 weeks. I know Ap will outscore him and the other guys you can use over that time period . I think Harrison and Roy are a wash. Ward will loose touches once Jacobs returns and he doesnt get the goalline carries.

alright, well, i guess most people are against this ... i'll see if can get lamont and williams somehow, which i've been trying to do, but the guy keeps turning me down.

I would guess this is a good idea, but I believe Sjax is going to be ok in like 3-4 weeks. Yeah that sucks, but we sitll would have him for another 11 weeks, and 11 weeks of him is better than almost full time of others. IMO.

I think this is an excellent trade. I would do it. You're gonna play VY till his legs/arm fall off anyway, so Cutler doesn't matter. ADP - he is pretty much all they have, so eh, and IMO will tail off as the schedule gets tougher. SJax, although he will be out say, 4-5 weeks will crank it up in the second half. I think Roy is a production upgrade over Harrison simply because Indy has multiple options on O vs. the Lions. Ward won't matter over the course of the whole season. Edwards is a matchup guy anyway, even though he's a WR1.

Thanks for mine...

This is a tough call, not knowing how long SJax would be out. I think it is risky, but if he comes back in 2-3 weeks I think it would work out in your benefit. Ward's startability may not be long for this fantasy football world, though, methinks.

This is a really tough trade to evaluate on many levels. First of all, Brad Childress announced that Chester Taylor is his starting RB when he returns. Yes AP has been great, but he is a rookie and has an injury history. Don't forget Chester Taylor has been a 1,000 yard back before. I think Taylor will eat into AP's production significantly to the point of a full RBBC.

Next, Im not saying it can't or won't happen, but ranking Roy Williams ahead of Marvin Harrison is a mistake in my opinion. Harrison is the model of consistency, and despite a slow start, I think you can still bank on 1200 yards and 10 TD's at this point. I think 8 straight years of similar production or better makes this safe to say. Roy Williams has looked great and Detroit throws the ball a lot, but I'll take the consistency of Harrison every time.

SJax is tough to gauge his value. If he is only out 2-3 weeks he has good value the rest of the year. The Rams offense is in shambles with injuries to a majority of the O-line as well as Bulger, but SJax is too talented not to produce.

In the end I think I make this trade. As others have said, Cutler is basically a throw in, and Im not real high on Edwards. I like Harrison slightly better than Roy but its close, and then I think your getting much higher upside in SJax than you are in AP, cuz as I stated, I don't think its AP's show yet.
