McNabb5 0 Posted October 8, 2009 My roster: QB Edwards, Trent BUF QB Rivers, Philip SDC QB RB Coffee, Glen SFO RB Forte, Matt CHI RB Goodson, Mike CAR RB Greene, Shonn NYJ RB Lynch, Marshawn BUF RB Moreno, Knowshon DEN RB Stewart, Jonathan CAR RB WR/TE Avery, Donnie STL WR Boldin, Anquan ARI WR Crabtree, Michael SFO WR Manningham, Mario NYG WR Owens, Terrell BUF WR Celek, Brent PHI TE Winslow, Kellen TBB TE Akers, David PHI PK Rules: starting lineup 1QB, 2RB, 3WR/TE Scoring: 1pt/10 rushing or receiving yds 1pt/20 pass yards 4 pt/ ptd 6pt/rushing or receiving td 1pt/2rec My thoughts. This trade would help me out at receiver, because after Boldin, I dont have any reliable starting receivers. We have to start 3 wr/te's. Is it worth it for me to move forte to do this? I figure I would have knowshon, lynch and portis for rb if i made this deal. In this league receivers are a premium. Im still on the fence about djax. Im a big fan of his, but can I rely on him to be that stud receiver? Im not sure. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also, this is a 3 player keeper league. leave a link to yours and I will return the favor.
LeBron 0 Posted October 8, 2009 I would probably pull the trigger with the only concern for me being that I love DeSean Jackson. The guy is such a huge playmaker and seems to have one long play and or td every week. If Washington could ever get their crap together, I would hold off especially with the fact that the Bears just throw so much more now with Cutler and Forte not getting much of those yet. Tough one but I would probably do it. Thanks for answering mine.

But I think its probably a good move given your lack of depth at receiver. Do you get points for return scores? Probably not a huge consideration, but DJax might get you some points this way. He's obviously a great talent, but the fact that he hasn't put together a dominating season at WR (at the pro or college level, really) scares me. The fact that its a keeper league doesn't sway me one way or the other -- it'd be nice to have DJax next year, but losing Forte isn't good. I'd probably do the trade, but I'd explore others before, if I could.

As far as yours i would do this especialy if its a PPR league..DJAX can help you big time and you still got Lynch, coffee and Mereno...you have got to think things are gonna change for TO,I also have Celek and he is great in PPR,Manningham is the number two for manning cause you know teams are gonna start doubling smith so DJAX can pay off big time. My only concern is that Portis might be done as the premier Fantasy RB..i dont think he has anything left as far as fantasy goes,IMO
Texansfan 0 Posted October 8, 2009 You need a WR I agree, but that price is too steep IMO. Portis sucks which Forte is just getting going! I would counter with one of your lesser backs. Maybe Lynch? Thanks for mine!
Lesman 1 Posted October 8, 2009 I would not make the trade. Portis is hitting a wall, and the entire offense, just isn't working. Forte is just getting going. Cutler's early success will pay dividends for Forte. More redzone opps, and more holed opened up. I just don't see alot of consistency for you at RB after Forte, so I would not get rid of him. I'd look elsewhere for a WR.
rottytiny 7 Posted October 8, 2009 I wouldn't do it for Forte. Does he have anything to offer other then Portis in return? You'd get your WR help but your rbs would be pretty weak, theres not a number 1 in the bunch right now: Coffee, Greene, Goodson(why?), Stewart are about useless (Coffee is decent for 2 more weeks and Gore will be back). Lynch and Moreno are nice #2s but not #1s yet. Just my opinion. mine: http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=353085
Boston_Diablo 0 Posted October 8, 2009 I would not trade for Portis (especially getting rid of Forte in the process)... He is declining rapidly and will be close to worthless soon. Your gain in WR I do not think will offset the RB drop. See if you can swap one of your other RBs instead. Thanks for your input.
Dsausage 36 Posted October 8, 2009 You need a WR but Forte is way too high a price to pay for D jax. Portis is in the twilight of his career on a crap team. I would not do this trade. Sorry.
Mr. Thanksgiving 0 Posted October 8, 2009 I don't do this deal. Forte is a top 5 RB, Portis will be lucky to be top 20. Additionally, since this is a keeper league I'd make sure I held on to Forte after the season. He's only in his 2nd year, and Portis is steadily approaching the end of the road in terms of fantasy value. Also, for the life of me, I don't understand why people keep 2 TE's on their roster after the bye week. I think it's safe to drop Goodson and Winslow. I agree that you need help at WR, but I think that trade is too steep of a price. Not to mention the fact that Celek and Boldin are every week starts, now that their bye weeks are over. I'm not in love with T.O. at this point, and I think it gets worse with the Buffalo weather. The passing game is already anemic and Trent Edwards can't get him the ball now, that leaves even less hope once the snow starts to fall. Plus T.O. can't catch a dry ball, there's no reason to think he'll be able to haul in a wet/frozen one. Manningham should sustain a little value with teams likely to devote more attention to Steve Smith due to his hot start. All in all, I think you only need 1 WR...so pursue a trade that would require less or hold on to what you've got.
McNabb5 0 Posted October 8, 2009 Thanks Mr Thanksgiving. Good points.
nosferatu9368 0 Posted October 8, 2009 First off thank you for mine. No way do I make this deal, you would be left with almost nothing at RB. Portis was a very good back but his days are nearly done. I like DeSean but he's not worth losing Forte. Good Luck Peace...
McNabb5 0 Posted October 9, 2009 Ok, what if Im able to get one of his other rbs instead of portis. Like Benson, DBrown, or SJax?
Stewburtx8 67 Posted October 9, 2009 If you can get SJax instead of Portis, then Yes. Benson or DBrown its still a NO.
McNabb5 0 Posted October 9, 2009 Im now countering with a major offer Forte, Moreno and Manningham for SJax, Benson, Djax this one gives makes me stronger at WR and still decent at rb. I expect SJax to produce more down the stretch.
