There was no near crash. Can you imagine the reaction here if Joe Biden had told such a story?

It’s called a “stump speech” and every politician has one. The crowd wants the lines about Trump- like a rock star performing greatest hits. They chant along. Obama and Reagan did the exact same thing. Trump speaks off the cuff and the result has always been a stream of consciousness insanity. She had a stump speech 4 years ago too. But her pauses, her cadences, her timing has become far better since then.

It’s not that my side is winning. It’s that I agree with them on a number of issues very important to me. For example undocumented immigration, trade, NATO, abortion, climate change, gun control. On all of those issues I agree with the establishment Democratic position represented by people like Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi and Kamala Harris. I don’t agree with Trump’s positions and I don’t agree with the leftist positions of AOC and the Squad. So why shouldn’t I celebrate if they win? But it’s not a tribal thing. If the Democrats change their position on this stuff I won’t support them anymore.

There is nothing wrong with the way Kamala became the nominee for the Democratic Party. The Democratic Party is not part of the government. It’s a private organization. It gets to establish its own rules. You guys don’t have a say in that. Nor does the public. If you don’t like it nobody is forcing you to vote for them.

Of those 452 miles, only 40 miles were new. The rest simply repaired fencing that was already there (and was not being crossed regularly).

Her campaign is two weeks old. She’s stated her position on several issues already. She will have a platform during or just after the convention. She will give plenty of interviews during or just after the convention. This will all be forgotten.

What I wrote is that the MAGA movement encourages political violence. I believe that is true. Just as I believe that a lot of Islam sects encourage violence against homosexuals. In each case, only a tiny minority of those encouraged actually commit the violence.

You’re correct of most voters. But in my response to @supermike80 I was specifically referring to Democrats. Most Democrats, IMO, are now voting FOR Kamala.

This is a far better analysis than that offered by @supermike80 or @Strike but I feel you still miss two key points: 1. She really has become a great orator. I honestly don’t know when it happened because I agree she wasn’t one in 2020 or throughout most of her time as VP. But she is one now. 2. The key to almost all of the great politicians is that you’re not supposed to know where they stand on too many issues. She is a liberal, Reagan was a (traditional) conservative, Clinton and Obama ran as centrists. Beyond these all-encompassing terms all of them were deliberately vague on details because the public doesn’t want to know them. Voters prefer to create their own image of the candidate. Later on Kamala will provide a specific platform list of issues and positions like all the rest. But for now she is deliberately working on creating FEELING. She wants you to feel she is good, she needs to have you like her. That’s how she will win.

I get it. You guys aren’t paying attention to the huge excitement she is generating, the tons of people attending her rallies. I bring this up and talk about the incredible enthusiasm and how her speech making is now at a level matching Obama and Reagan, and I get mocked. You guys simply refuse to believe it. And yet it’s happening. Maybe it’s all temporary. Maybe in a few weeks this will all fade away. But I doubt it. Kamala Harris is offering hope, joy, a positive outlook. These are not meaningless words to most voters. She is the antithesis of the doom and gloom that Trump consistently projects. People want a hero; as Paul Simon once wrote, a nation will forever turn its lonely eyes to Joe DiMaggio. They want somebody to look up to and feel good about. Thats at the root of what’s happening here. You guys haven’t realized it yet. But you will.

Democrats are no longer merely voting “not Trump.” They’re voting FOR Kamala. That is the current reality though few people around her seem to realize it.

But see I don’t find all conservatives abhorrent and I don’t find all conservative ideas abhorrent- just the ones I mentioned. And I don’t condemn all conservatives for the actions of a few. Because I don’t collectivize. Islam is not abhorrent. In many cases the current application of the religion can be abhorrent. That’s due to a large number of historical reasons, the main one being that the Muslim religion never experienced a Martin Luther reform or Enlightenment movement the way Christianity did 500 years ago. But most Muslims even in the most backwards of countries are not bad people, any more than most Christians prior to 1700 or so were bad people. The terrorists are a very tiny minority.

There are plenty of Muslims with backwards ideas. But my problem with you guys on this issue is essentially the same one I have with you regarding undocumented immigrants, and transgenders, and black violence in Chicago, etc. etc. You COLLECTIVIZE people you don’t like. You blame all of them for the actions of one. You refuse to treat them as individuals and it’s so repellent to the traditions of conservatism that it’s sickening to me. Thats why Ronald Reagan would NEVER be a member of the current GOP. You guys are filled with resentment and hatred and fear.

It should be. Hopefully it will be in a few years. Most people don’t care about this issue either.

And Vance stalking Kamala’s plane? So frigging creepy. And where is Trump this week?

Because he was talking about gun control, not about his military record. And because he served for 24 years and doesn’t have a reputation for bragging about it (or anything.) Because he comes off as a good guy, essentially honest, and NORMAL. And because JD Vance comes off as creepy and cringeworthy and Trump should just stay away from all discussion of valor, period. For these reasons this sort of attack against Walz is doomed to fail.
