Discussion of Concerns for Trump Presidency

I understand that they’re able to do it as they’ve been doing it for decades on an individual basis. But mass deportations are a whole different animal. Do you really not understand that?

And I have no objection to deporting the violent criminals (after serving their sentences).

So many of you keep correctly pointing out that immigration is not a states issue. However if the federal government insists that state or local governments cooperate in helping them round up and deport people, those entities have the right to refuse that cooperation. (And I hope they refuse. We will in California for sure.) So when Tom Homan says to states “get the hell out of the way” sorry Tom, we’re in your way. Now what?

Agreed on the way they entered but disagree strongly on their presence. It’s not hard at all to argue that their presence here is a good thing; I’ve made that argument many times and backed it up with studies and statistics. But putting that aside, let me make a simpler argument which is this: any mass attempt to remove these people in large numbers will, at this point, be far more of a detriment to our society than a benefit. In fact it’s hard to find any benefit at all.
  5. As to your first sentence, libertarians have never regarded immigrants, including undocumented immigrants, as “invaders.” Most of of my arguments for giving amnesty to the people you call “illegals” come from Reason Magazine and the Cato Institute, two bastions of libertarian thinking.

Trump talk only- no Eagles talk allowed (Steelers talk is OK though)

When in their entire history was Rolling Stone not on the left? Thats who they’ve always been.
  7. I support lower taxes and less regulation when possible. I wrote that Kamala’s food pricing proposal was a terrible idea. I am a huge believer in capitalism and the free market- in fact my opposition to Trump’s tariffs and immigration proposals are based, not on liberalism, but on libertarianism. I oppose raising minimum wage- in fact I think we would be better off if we eliminated minimum wage. Most of my liberal or woke views tend to be of a social nature, not economic. That being said they’re very important to me.
  8. Yeah I like this move too. He’s another guy I rarely agree with but he’s a “normal”. And competent.
  9. If that happens Trump will demand the Senate remove the filibuster.
  10. Matt Walsh actually seems like a pretty solid guy with a great background. I don’t agree with all of his positions but he strikes me as a guy with experience, honor and integrity. This is a good choice IMO.
  11. I’m glad of this result. Either Trump’s actions will be good for the country or they won’t. But one way or the other we will have clarity. Democrats can’t stop them:
  12. Does he have the power to do this? I honestly don’t know.
  13. Yeah that’s unconstitutional and won’t fly.
  14. Well first off we didn’t vote for a boss, we voted for a President. But other than that you’re correct. I believe that President Trump will indeed try to deport these people, not just the violent felons, but anyone here without papers. Let’s see how it goes.
  15. I believe that the American people want Trump to stop people crossing our borders. I believe that the American people want violent felons who are undocumented deported. It’s a big reason as to why he was elected. I do not believe that the American people want the millions of folks here without documents who are NOT violent felons to be forcibly removed. You may want it, and Trump may want it, but the public doesn’t want it. And I think that we will discover this if it’s actually tried. Of course I could be wrong, I’m wrong a lot (obviously.) Guess we’ll find out.

You’re not acting like an American, IMO. But that’s just me because I am an American.

No because they work for less than $600 so it’s not a requirement.
  18. I strongly suspect that several of these posts are designed to troll, for shock value. But on the other hand Trump and his folks may actually engage in this sort of cruelty or something like it. Those of us who disagree have no power to stop them in any event. So we’ll see how it plays out.

I wasn’t referring to you. I didn’t think you’d respond given that I’m Jewish. But you’re certainly welcome to.
  20. I don’t believe that most people who commit misdemeanors are criminals.

What will President Trump do about the January 6 defendants?

I just remembered Nixon and I knew it wasn’t true.

    Cryptocurrency

So Crypto guys help me understand this better: Trump says he will be appointing people to financial positions that are “pro-crypto.” He also is pledging to make the USA the “capitol of Crypto.” What does any of this mean? What for example will it mean to me, to my life, to regular people’s lives who don’t trade in this? Will anything change?
