It’s absolutely a moral stance. And a legal one. I think these people should be allowed to stay here and I’m in favor of them doing so. They broke a law coming here and should pay a penalty but it’s not my duty to enforce that. I’m not turning a blind eye. There’s no law that says I can’t hire them. -

I put it in quotation marks for a reason. But I don’t like giving Stephen Miller ANY power. (I would, however, be willing to give the Steve Miller Band some power.) -

I only hire them for a few hours at a time so no. I’m not legally required to do so because they are independent contractors. -

We’re gonna find out. The first point- if it’s indeed brinksmanship, then it will only be tariffs on particular countries, like China and Mexico, in order to get them to do certain things. If it’s tariffs on EVERY country, as Trump promised, then it’s hard for me to see how it’s brinksmanship. -
He’s giving them carte Blanche. Do whatever you want, the money will continue.

Can we leave the people who haven’t committed felonies alone? Are you good with that? -

Stephen Miller named deputy chief of staff with “unlimited power.” Yeah OK I admit I’m a bit concerned about this… -

I don’t want to distract from the main topic but: https://www.pbs.org/newshour/amp/nation/declassified-documents-shed-light-on-ethel-rosenbergs-involvement-in-her-husbands-cold-war-spy-case Technically you’re right. She wasn’t a spy due to illness. But she knew exactly what her husband was doing and was sympathetic and most importantly did not turn him in. The Soviet Union’s acquisition of our nuclear secrets and technology allowed them to maintain the Iron Curtain and caused the deaths and misery of millions of people. Ethel could have stopped her husband and did not. In my judgment that was treason and she well deserved her execution. -
No official schedule released yet but here’s what we know so far: Monday Night: Joe Biden Tuesday Night: Barack Obama Wednesday Night: Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Tim Walz Thursday Night: Kamala Harris Gonna be a star-studded event. No musical artists revealed yet, but rumors continue to abound of Beyonce and Taylor Swift. Only true patriots will be allowed to speak.

No, she wouldn’t. There are plenty of people who would. But Ethel was guilty. -
Californians rejoice! You're getting more tax increases!!
The Real timschochet replied to Strike's topic in The Geek Club
This is wrong too. I would be in favor of repealing that tax. -
You’re right my bad. Pretty damn rare though.

No. Those here legally don’t want to do those jobs. And the inflation IMO would not be temporary. It would be constant and catastrophic. -

Because I find it morally wrong. Evil in fact. -

Let me make this simple: I want less homelessness. I want to treat these people humanely and help them if I can. There should be a way to accomplish both. -

I don’t disagree with you on a lot of this. But I would point out that if Trump goes through with his tariffs that will create less jobs and raise the cost of housing, exactly the opposite of the solutions you are recommending. -

You think homeless people move from state to state based on government programs? And that they have the means to travel? -

Dont get me wrong. I understand how spending money in the wrong places doesn’t help homelessness. I get that. But the argument that @Strike and @jbycho are making is that it can actually INCREASE homelessness. That’s the part I don’t get. Perhaps you can explain it. -

I believe Josef Stalin was the last person to make this argument. -

Please explain how spending money to address homelessness increases homelessness. -
Just a comment on the specific choice- it’s been nearly 100 years since a NON judge was chosen for the Supreme Court. I don’t think it’s happening again in our lifetimes.

Are you arguing that spending more money on dealing with homelessness increases homelessness? Please explain how that works.
