  1. Are you a partisan stooge completely walled off from critical thought, just being obtuse, or a knuckle-dragging idiot?
  2. I would hire hundreds of them before considering you for a position.
  3. I'll use one common example. I'm in Minnesota. There is a huge African population here; refugees from Sudan, Ethiopia, Somalia, Kenya, etc. They are majority Muslim. My employer allows them time and accommodations for them to observe their holy days and prayer times. This makes them a more desirable employer for that population. The flip side is that accommodating these things is sometimes a royal PITA. And there are a significant amount of people that abuse those privileges. However, we put up with that because the good outweighs the negative. It's kind of like large gov't organizations in that way. Yes, there is fraud and abuse, and we should do everything we can to prevent/punish it. But the net gain far outweighs the negative. When you shut the whole thing down, yes you are preventing fraud and waste. But at what cost?
  4. The DEI initiatives my employer undertakes involve recruitment and outreach to minorities. It offers opportunities and accommodations for people of different religions, ethnicities, disabilities, and cultures. It is well known for that. That allows for a more deep and diverse talent pool from which i can hire ON MERIT. The threat posed is still nebulous, but my understanding is that if Trump criminalizes these initiatives, he can then withhold federal money from organizations if they are found to be "participating" based on whatever arbitrary criteria is decided upon. If that happens, a lot of vital research grants go away, along with many jobs. Would he try to revoke CMS funding? That alone would sink any hospital or clinic reliant on those funds, which are essentially everything that isn’t a privately owned practice. Nevermind the panic it has caused amongst employees that are immigrants, LGBTQ, or other targeted minorities.
  5. I don't work for the government, rube. Are you cool with cancer R&D going away on a large scale because of this? The research on the use of AI for complicated diagnoses? I could go on and on. Jesus Christ, your reading comprehension is abysmal. Link to where I said it never happens? You don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. Or in turnip's case throw out the unborn fetus with the contaminated groundwater.

Chelsea Clinton got $84 Million from USAID?!?!

But it has never been nonpolitical with DOGE, since it isn't a real agency. It was created out of thin air to serve political needs. Nobody would be against a nonpartisan third party audit.
  7. You're FOS. DEI initiatives for my employer are legit. I've hired some spectacular employees due to their cultivation of it. And never, not once have I heard of someone being hired for anything other than merit. I've certainly never done it. But now the 2-bit fraudster wants to make it criminal? To what end? Cutting off funding? Do y'all understand what's at stake? In my case potentially massive amounts of healthcare research dollars being revoked because our POTUS is an ignorant moron with no concept of long term downstream effects. All so he can claim another pyrrhic victory.
  8. This bullshit is already being felt in the company I work for. The long-range effects are potentially dire. I for one am absolutely astonished that MAGA is going along with this, given their eternal fight against government overreach :sarcasm:
  9. Well no, because I don't trust either of them in the least. We won't agree on this, but appreciate the good faith back and forth. You might not be the world's biggest douche and second worst poster here. Jury's still deliberating.

Elon musk access to the treasury

I am skeptical of your answer here, but consider you a straight shooter so thanks for intellectual honesty.
  11. I have zero issue with actual waste being identified. The disconnect is the idiom of unelected bureaucrats screwing the country while an unelected, unappointed, and unsupervised billionaire unable to obtain security clearance and with massive conflicts of interest has free reign over a government entity responsible for disbursing trillions of taxpayer dollars. By the time the courts catch up to the probable illegality of it, the damage will have long since been done. Let's pretend that Elon really is unselfishly trying to improve the government. He finds billions worth of waste and fraud and crushes it, despite never having the legal authority to do so. Trump basks in it and holds it up as an example of how he gets positive things done by flouting those stupid damn rules and regulations. Now he believes he can continue doing illegal things because look how successful Elon was! I don't feel like I need to explain the rest of the slippery slope argument.

Elon musk access to the treasury

Good luck. 10 years and counting. There is no depth that MAGA will not sink to in order to justify everything Trump does. He could start WW3 tomorrow, turn half the earth into a smoking cinder, and MAGA would complain about how much worse it would have been under Biden and the deep state thwarting his plan to turn the entire earth into a cinder.
  13. Of course. But I would equate what's going on with a Dem POTUS inviting George Soros to do what Elon is doing today. I do not believe you would ignore that, or defend it. I sure wouldn't.

Discussion of Concerns for Trump Presidency

Did I say they did? No. I said you were wrong. Frankly I'm surprised you admitted to reading my post. I was expecting a tl:dr with your trademark dipshit syntax error.

Trump to attend Super Bowl LIX

LOL. James kinda sticks out there. Speaking of things sticking out, I would absolutely put aside my bias if what you propose were an option. I have no real animosity toward the team or its employees. I kinda like the team, honestly. Especially that D-line. But seriously, fuk that fanbase.

Discussion of Concerns for Trump Presidency

Thanks, Manure, for once again showing everyone how warped your perspective is. Here's a hint for LIFE WINNERS: not everybody is solely motivated by personal gain and wealth. Some people actually care about others and work to do the right thing, like civil service. Considering your personality, it's obvious that you cannot even fathom those people being extant. Because of that fact, you believe the above, which is absurd and demonstrably wrong.
  17. But the obverse is also true. I agree that libs tend to get over their skis with Trump's antics, and it sometimes works against their best interests. But MAGA sits there and praises what he does without noticing or caring that what he does is, in many cases, flat-out illegal and reeks of cronyism and corruption. Conflicts of interest no longer exist in MAGA land unless it's a dirty liberal doing it. I don't like whatabouts, especially right now when Trump has all the levers at his disposal and there are no excuses. But you guys supporting these things without acknowledging the absolute knots you all would be tied in if a Dem did the same shlt is disingenuous AF.

Elon musk access to the treasury

FFS, just stop. Screw your head back on straight. I FULLY support this information coming to light. My issue, along with many others here, is how it is being disseminated. The richest man on the planet, who spent a quarter bil on getting someone elected POTUS, who has billions of dollars of government contracts and myriad conflicts of interest and was not initially granted security access because of those conflicts; who is unelected, unappointed, unvetted, and unsupervised, is mucking around in a government system designed to distribute trillions of tax dollars. He has no authority to do this other than "Donald said so." That's not how we run this fukking country, and if Dems ever pulled something even remotely similar, you and 3/4 of this board would stroke the fuk out.

Trump to attend Super Bowl LIX

Nope. This is a non-starter. Iggles fans are hands down the nastiest, most petulant and childish fanbase in US sports. And I generally don't like the city itself, either.
  20. Psst, HT..... your hair is on fire.

Elon musk access to the treasury

Defend whatnow? All I saw was an unsourced random tweet with no links or backup information other than a screenshot that I could have faked in 5 minutes or less. You guys tell libs to stop freaking out over every little thing; take your own advice.
  22. Exactly. The audio was the funniest unintentional comedy I think I've ever heard. Trump just babbling away about literally the dumbest focking thing a US pres has ever proposed, while Bibi stands next to him verbally polishing Trump's knob. Spectacular. I just can't even take the whole thing seriously. It was sketch comedy.
  23. That depends. I've never loved steamrollers as a smoking accessory. They're too much like a bong but without the filtration aspect the water offers. They sometimes hurt, because my eyes are usually bigger than my lungs. But damn, they sure do get the job done.
  24. I literally laughed when I heard about this story, and the other crap Bibi was saying. Watching other world leaders awkwardly kiss Trump's giant ass is both terrifying and hilarious. Putin did the same thing yesterday. And you just know Trump is thinking "these guys finally figured out how awesome I am! They like me! They really like me!"
