  1. I realize that this topic is probably better suited for the "a little help" board but I thought it had some value here as well as a discussion on non-ppr dynasty leagues
  2. I've been playing fantasy football for 16 years now and my favorite part of the season has always been the draft- and I like to think that I've developed a good sense of how to rank players based on relative value depending on the scoring system. However this year I am entering my first-ever dynasty league- (12 team, standard scoring, NON-PPR, start QB, 2RB, 2WR, TE, FLEX, K, DEF) and I am having a difficult time determining where to rank WRs in the first few rounds. From round 3 on I will likely just take the best player available based on positional need, relative value, draft equity, etc.... but getting started is a bit harder. Given the high turnover rate among the top RBs from year-to-year, it would seem smart to go the safe route and take a top flight receiver early. CJ, AJG, Julio, and maybe Dez Bryant would all be first round selections if this were a PPR league. But this is NON-PPR and only start 2 WRs so WRs should drop accordingly. The problem I'm having though is that while their immediate value is less than that of RBs like Ray Rice, Peterson, Foster, they will certainly have much more longevity. But then again this year (and likely for many years to come) RB is extremely shallow whereas WR is quite deep. Here's what I'm thinking for my top 15 (I pick at 10 and 15). We're having a separate rookie draft where I pick 3rd (planning to take Bell, Bernard, Austin, or Ball). 1. Doug Martin 2. Trent Richardson 3. CJ Spiller 4. Calvin Johnson 5. Jamaal Charles 6. LeSean McCoy 7. Adrian Peterson 8. AJ Green 9. Arian Foster 10. Ray Rice 11. Alfred Morris 12. Julio Jones 13. Dez Bryant 14. Jimmy Graham 15. Matt Forte others to consider- (A.Rogers, M. Lynch, D. Wilson, A. Luck, C. Newton, D. Thomas) Right now I'm thinking I'll go RB-RB giving me two of the following (Foster, Rice, Morris, Forte) but I can't stop thinking that it would be silly to pass on the long-term value of Julio, Dez, or Graham (even in Non-PPR, start 2 WRs). Thoughts?? Show me what your top-15 would be. Anyone out there in a non-ppr dynasty?

    Fantasy Football Hall of Fame

Regardless of whether or not active players should be allowed in this discussion.... I personally choose to eliminate actives based on my own personal "HOF" standards. With that being said, my 5 would have to be (in no particular order) 1. Marshall Faulk 2. Ladanian Tomlinson 3. Emmitt Smith 4. Jerry Rice 5. Brett Favre

First round picks as of 8/16...who you got

"Standard Scoring"... which for my league means 4pts passing TDS, 6pts rushing/receiving, 1pt/25 yds passing, 1pt/10yds rushing/receiving 1. Foster 2. Mccoy 3. Rice 4. Rogers 5. Chris Johnson 6. Brady 7. Calvin Johnson 8. Brees 9. Forte 10. Murray 11. Graham 12. Gronkowski Honorable mention: Mcfadden, Richardson, MJD, Ryan Mathews, Charles, Stafford, Peterson, Julio Jones I've never seen so many high risk/reward-type players in Rounds 1/2. Question marks everywhere this year.

    Beanie

Last week I traded Beanie (pre-injury news) along w/Julio Jones for Miles Austin (post injury news). I think I definitely got the better end of the deal (especially after finding out that Beanie also had an injured hammy) but I think my trade is still an accurate reflection of where his value was. Unfortunately for you, his value has dropped significantly since then. Maybe throw out a couple offers (for some high end WR2s), but you might be better off waiting it out and crossing your fingers that he plays well this week to raise his value again.

    Welker Trades

Players I'd be targeting for Welker in a ppr would be, in order... Chris Johnson, Forte, Hillis, J.Best, MJD, A.Foster, A.Bradshaw, Mendenhall, M.Turner, B.Wells, Sjax, Blount, Hightower, Tolbert, Sproles (only b/c ppr) If you're going for a player near the top of that list you'll prob have to package a decent RB2/3 as well. If you're targeting a player near the bottom the list you could prob ask them to include a WR2/3. Here's mine... http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=389755

    Calvin Johnson for Hillis

I would do Hillis for Megatron straight up. I'm actually a lot higher on Hillis than most too (Browns homer). The main problem w/Hillis is going to be his schedule down the stretch and in the playoffs. 4 of the Browns last 5 games are against Baltimore/Pittsburgh. The fact that you get D.Thomas is a nice bonus! Take the deal! Here's mine... http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=389755

Wheeling and dealing, need some help WHIR

I really like Knox/Bush for Ingram/Mike Williams I like Newton/Branch better than Green/Thomas but would take either of those deals I like any of the deals involving Gore/V.Davis... especially for CJ/Mathews A week ago I would have said go for Djax for Hightower I'm a lot more hesitant now. You do have Helu though so hmm...

Make the trade, or stand pat?

Stand pat! KC has looked horrible thus far and just lost their top playmaker. Perhaps that means that they will have to rely on Bowe more but I personally feel like the opposite effect is more likely. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Jordy Nelson finishes ahead of Bowe this year. Bradshaw shared caries last year too and finished w/ 1550 yds and 8tds. Shonn Green also shares caries and hasn't shown much of anything outside of a couple productive playoff games (before they had LT).

    Trade involving McCoy

Agree that you should take the deal. Gronkowski is looking like he should easily finish as a top 3 TE this year (especially w/Hernandez out for a month). You're right that the time to get him is now. Mendenhall is off to a slow start but he's still a legit RB1. Cam Newton looks ridiculous right now. If he can consistently add 5-10 points on the ground each game I can't see how he could have a bad week. 200 yds, 1td, 3ints would yield most QBs 6 points. If Newton adds 50 and a TD on the ground to that it becomes 17. Not a bad bonus. I'm curious to know who your starting QB and TE are right now. Basically this comes down to Mccoy-Mendenhall vs. (Gronkowski-Olsen) + (Newton-Cutler/Bradford). I like the right side of the equation more. Here's mine... http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=389755
  13. Standard scoring, non-ppr, start 1QB,2RB,2WR,TE,Flex,K,Def My roster (prior to my first trade): QB-Vick, Newton, Stafford RB-Hillis, Bradshaw, F.Jones, B.Wells, Hightower, Helu, McCluster WR-Lloyd, Julio Jones, Lance Moore, Denarius Moore, G.Little, McCluster TE-D.Clark K-A.Henry Def-Oakland My depth at QB and RB is ridiculous and I feel like the time to upgrade is now. Deal #1 (complete): I just traded Beanie and Julio Jones for Miles Austin. The team I traded with was incredibly weak at RB (Beanie will be his RB1) and he's started off 0-2 and can't afford to wait for Austin to get healthy. How'd I do? Deal #2 (pending approval) I've been offered J.Finley and E.Decker for Stafford and D.Clark. I think I'm going to accept considering I have a more than adequate backup in Cam Newton (apparently thus far anyways) and Dallas Clark seems pretty worthless w/out Manning (his TD this week came in garbage time-he was practically invisible prior to that). Is Finley + Decker enough value for Stafford right now or should I wait it out? My roster will be as follows if I take the deal: QB: Vick, Newton RB: Hillis, Bradshaw, F.Jones, Hightower, Helu, Mccluster WR: M.Austin, B.Lloyd, L.Moore, D.Moore, Little, Mccluster TE: Finley K: Henery Def: Oakland Will answer yours. Hardesty

There are new faces b/c of injuries.... the injury to Steinbach (LG out for the year) is pretty devestating. He was a fantastic compliment to Joe Thomas and served as our primary pulling guard for Hillis. Tony Pashos is also hurt right now (browns RT). He should be back in another week or two (most likely not this week though). Jason Pinkston (rookie) is starting in place of steinbach at it is yet to be determined how he'll pan out. It will likely be slow going for him early in the season. A shortened training camp doesn't bode well for a rookie lineman. Coaches have said good things about him though so perhaps with time he'll be an adequate replacement. Overall, I am a bit concerned but with the best tackle in the game (Joe Thomas) and an elite young Center (Alex Mack) the Browns still have a very talented line. They just need some more time to gel as a cohesive unit.

    Browns favored Colts?

The Browns may have lost to Cincy last week but to say that they shouldn't be favored "against anyone" is a bit extreme considering... 7 penalties and several sub 30 yd. punts (punter has been cut) resulted in the Bengals having ridiculous field position for the entire first quarter. After the 1st the Browns D looked pretty damn good, granted it's the Bengals, but the point remains. Cincy's second TD came on a fluke play (Browns never got out of the huddle and Gradkowski just lobbed it up to A.J. Green who had no one within 30 yds of him). Their 3rd score came at the end of the game when the Browns needed a stop on 3rd down to keep the game alive. It was an all out run blitz so once Benson got through the line there was no one left (1 yd was the same as a TD in that situation. Either way the game was over). The offense didn't look great but I think much of that had to do poor play calling and the fact that they were starting two new lineman (injuries). The Browns will almost certainly feed the ball to Hillis considerably more this week. Give the new line a week in practice to work things out and things should look much better. And as an added bonus, the Browns are planning to shake up their recieving depth chart this week to get their best playmakers (Cribbs and Little) more time on the field. Far too many sets last week featuring Robiske (never gets open- horrible route runner). I'd take the Browns in this one even if it was -6.5.
