  1. No, I wouldnt veto this deal.

Brady is a solid QB, but not an elite QB.

Plummer is equal in talent to Brady and branch is a #3 fantasy receiver (#2 if performing to full potential)

subtract a risk premium from plummers value due to weak performance and the outside chance he can lose his job, and a risk premium for branch because hes on a new team and may need time to develop a repore with new QB hasselbeck and I think this deal is fair.

  2. I'm thinking about Trading Reggie Bush.

our league keeps 3, and with Ronnie Brown and LT and McNabb, I think Bush is expendable.

This deal can potentially put me over the top (if he elects to take my offer).

    The deal:

    Reggie Bush and Isaac Bruce

    For

    Kevin Jones and Marc Bulger.

it seems lopsided a bit, but this guy is totally high on Bush and wants him for the future (his team sucks and is rebuilding)

as an update, I recently Picked up Braylen Edwards and Berrian, so I can afford to dump Bruce. If he askes for Edwards or Berrian I think I'd throw one of them in, but this makes me stronger in every area.

    any opinions?

Talk me into or out of this deal if you can

  3. dont fall into this trap.

    1) your two remaining QBs do not have starting jobs.

    2) most often players who dont know how much to offer for a player will ask you to make a proposal so that they can decide whether they want to deal with you. The advantage in any negotiation is with the team receiving the first offer because if the offer is too far out of whack you just bail on the negotiation.

he is hoping that you will 'undersell' Hasselbeck and he can get a bargain.

if he wants your player he should make the opening offer.

I would reply something like this:

'Warner isnt guaranteed a job, and Lienert may not be ready if he does get the job' between the two, I consider myself to have one backup. I'm not looking to trade my starter at this time, but if you want to make me an offer that is in my best interest, I will at least look at the deal, but given the current situation, I'd expect a lot for Hasselbeck, so if making an offer please take this into consideration'

This reply is honest, and does not say 'NO' but does send a subtle message that basically says 'you'd better pay if you wanna get him and I expect a lot in return because the value of hasselbeck to me & my team just went up because of my situation'

if he makes an offer you cant refuse, then go with it, but otherwise, I'd recommend you dont trade hasselbeck because I dont feel there are any QB's on his team that will make a huge difference to your bottom line.

  4. well, Tatum bell would be my lowest ranked RB of the group.

he could split carries, or lose his job and get no carries. because of the revolving door of RB's in denver over the last couple of years, I will only use a denver RB as a backup unless I'm really in a pinch.

Fred Taylor is the best player there (other than LJ) and he appears healthy at the moment, but he plays a reasonably good Washington Defense.

I'd probably go for Westbrook in week 4 cuz he plays the extremely weak defense in San Fran. Because Westbrook can burn you on the run or on the pass, this would make him a must start against this team.

however either Taylor or Westbrook are both excellent options this week and I wouldnt be afraid to play either of them.

  5. well, right now I'd take the guy with the Starting job. (plummer)

Lienert can have all the potential he wants, but if plummer goes out and plays well for the rest of the season, Lienert wont get to play much.

now, on the other hand if Plummer goes and stinks the joint out again, all bets are off.

but for now, I'd take plummer.

  6. There is a huge problem with it. You can't have two teams working together. Which is obvioulsywhat happened....that can be defined as Collusion. Players should have to be dropped and be picked up off the waiver wire...and or clear waivers. In my league we have a rule that if you trade players you can not have the same players traded back in any trade for 5 weeks or more.

I do agree though...that if there is no rules against collusion...then it has to go through...but I would hope you have rules against teams working together.

Well, I for one would walk away from this league.

It doesnt matter if there are rules against collusion or not. This is unethical even if there are no rules forbidding it.

if this were the NFL I assure you, There is no way that any NFL Team would do this in real life. The Commish would Quash that in an instant. In fact there should be a rule in fantasy football (put in for the idiots that dont understand what its all about) that if you trade away a player, you are not allowed to re-acquire that same player from the same team in trade for the rest of the season.

However, I'm just glad this isnt my problem. I know for a fact if I was commish and two teams tried this, I'd veto the second trade and let the first one stand.

League doesnt get to vote on trades. I didnt think this would be an issue that would come up.

People in the league have complained though,

    Here is our comish's response:

    One Weekers

by: The Pete Panthers Sep 26 12:25am

Welll, you should conveniently trade your best player to someone who plays the commish for a week and see how much he enjoys it.

  7. Ah, the always lovely "Is he for real?" subject line....... Always a particular fav of mine.

Sarcasm aside, yes - he is a quality player - was really coming into his own until he tore his knee up last season. Had a nice long rehab, and as been coming on strong. He is quick, big, and makes things happen. HE has a nice rapport with Charlie Frye - for what that's worth. He played well the past two weeks, and I gather he'll make more noise in Week 4 against Oakland.

He's my 5th WR in two of my leagues.

In my mind there was no question he could play. but being a good player and being a good fantasy point producer are two different things.

Initially I avoided him because he is returning from injury, and because of the Young QB tossing him the ball. but he's still putting up the numbers regardless (so far)

I guess my question is.... with Frye tossing the ball can we still expect these kind of numbers. Its early to say, but I've picked him up and we'll see what happens.

  8. I had been resisting the temptation to pick him up because of his QB and because he is coming off of a major knee injury.

Does anyone here think hes for real?

and is it worth dumping my 4th String RB (Barlow) to get him?

I'm starting to become a believer with this performance against the ravens...

  9. well, the job of the commish is to rule on questionable trades, and to interpret the rules when it looks like someone is trying to bend the rules to determine if this is acceptable.

basically the commish is like a policeman. when they enforce the rules and dish out punishment (if applicable) people see them as the bad guy and they dont get appreciated.

that's life. you gotta understand what it's gonna be like when you sign up for the job.

  10. For now, I would keep KJ at least for the the next couple weeks. He's got to improve.

    Agreed.

now is not the time to panic.

Detroit has played the first two games against 2 of the top 6 or 7 defenses in the league (in my opinion)

The schedule will improve and Jones will pick it up. If you wanna trade him, I'd wait a couple of weeks. I think he'll do better this week. Wait & see.

  11. hold on to the guys you have, wait to move moss after he has a good game or two

Normally this is a good strategy, but Brooks is out of the lineup. That rookie will throw for no more than 220 yards per game even against a weak defense.

assuming the best case scenario happens and the kid throws for 220 and 2 touchdowns, I cant see moss getting more than 80 yards and 1 touchdown. (this is 40% of all passing yards and 50% of the touchdowns)

and to me, this is the best case scenario. if the kid throws for 160 yards and one or no touchdowns, there's a good chance that moss will have less than 65 total yards. Those arent starter quality numbers unless that Touchdown is actually thrown to Moss.

Given the state of the team (probably the worst O-Line in the league) I wouldnt expect a rookie QB to put up 220 yards against any team. I could be wrong (wouldnt be the first time) but I wouldnt bet on this.

Moss's value will only go down over the next couple of weeks.

  12. As a Commish, I don't like that trade. I would first ask the guy giving up Harrison why he thought is was a good trade for him. If he gave me a reasonable answer, I would let it go. People have the right to be stupid.

well, I wouldnt vote to actually veto the deal if it were up for review, but I do think the deal is lopsided enough that there should be additional scrutiny.

you're getting an elite WR and giving up two players. Neither of which (in my opinion) is a #2 guy on an average team.

my leauge is only 10 teams, but I Droughns would be the #4 guy at best on my team.

in a 12 team league, Droughns might be a fringe starter (but more likely a #3 guy)and Mason would be a #2 on a weak team

there is no doubt that this guy undersold Harrison who, if you averaged fantasy production over the last 3-5 years would be solidly in the top 3 overall during that period.

Like I said, I wouldnt veto this, but I'd definitely open it up for discussion before letting the deal go through.

however, that being said, it would help if we saw what the team with Harrison looked like before the trade was made to see if this deal makes sense for him. I think of too many cases where this would make sense, and that's why the deal should be looked at.

  13. I would think you could get a good #2 receiver, along the lines of:

    Santana Moss

    Antonio Bryant

    Roy Williams

    Javon Walker

    etc.

Well, I think that this is a good thing to ask for, but I personally wouldnt give up a #2 receiver to get a RB who shares carries, so there's a good chance he would say no to that. Its more likely you'd get a receiver who is a solid #3 guy or a fringe #2 guy.

but if you packaged one of your WR's with Deuce you may be able to get a player of this calibre or better.

  14. I'm one of those poor bastards stuck with Jordan and Moss. I was trying to move one of them in case the Raiders don't turn it around. I have a couple offers one is the following

    I give- Pennington and Moss

I get- Thomas Jones and Terry Glenn

    My team-

    QB- TGreen, DBrees, CPennington

    RB-SJackson, LJordan, CTaylor, MBarber, JNorwood

    WR-RMoss, LColes,AByrant,DMason,JWalker

    TE-BWatson

    K-Wilkins

    D-Chargers and Redskins

Well, Tommy Jones is the starter, but this may not continue all year long. Moss is having a terrible season and this will likely continue at least until Brooks is back in the lineup. so I consider this part of the deal to be more or less a wash unless jones solidifies the starting position(which is possible so I give you a slight edge here). Glenn will have a decent season and could be of some use to you. Pennington is having a wicked start to the season, but is an injury risk, and right now (until Green returns to the lineup) he will be your #2 QB.

if this is league where you start 2 QB's I would not make this trade.

if you only start 1 QB in this league I'd hold off on this deal until monday or tuesday. By this time, you'll have a better idea of what Green's status is. So long as hes out, I'd hold off on making this deal for fear that you'll have no adequate backup. If green is expected to play the next week, I'd probably pull the trigger on this deal.

in the interim, I'd say this is an adequate deal, but not an outstanding deal. I'd shop around to see if you can get a better deal than this before accepting this offer. You may or may not be able to do better, but it doesnt hurt to try.

In the interim, I'd email the guy and tell him you're seriously thinking about it, but cant give an answer until monday or Tuesday.

  15. well, my decision in this matter would depend on how much of a risk you need to take to win the game.

if you think you have the game well in hand against a weaker opponent, I'd start Bush. No need to take a chance with a potentially injured guy if you are likely to win anyhow.

if its a case where you need the points, I'd go with Westbrook but check the last minute reports before the games start to be sure he's gonna play.

  16. I'd go with Bulger all the way.

they arent coached by Martz anymore, but they're still a very good offense and Arizona's Defense is horrible.

Detroit is improving, but I wouldnt expect Martz will improve the offense in a major way until he can bring in some of the people he needs to make the offense effective.

he needs another year until we'll see much in the way of results there.

  17. I have R.Moss,S.Moss,A.Johnson and G.Jennings at WR.

    My RB'S are R.Brown,K.Jones,T.Duckett and C.Buckholter

    14 Team League.

How many do you start at each position?

what is the scoring system like? Point per reception? or standard?

and is this a keeper league.

FYI: if this is a keeper league you need to keep Ronnie brown. he would be the guy you build your team around for the future.

I know the other guy said your team was bad, but I think for a 14 team league its not that bad. If it were a 10 team league, I'd agree with him.... but the talent gets rather diluted when the league gets to this size.

I'd look at it like this: if you expect Ronnie brown to get 16-20 fantasy points per game, I'd say Parker is good for 10-13 per game (season long average) so you lose about 7 points per game there, and jumping from one of your other receivers to Holt I think you'd gain a max of 5 points (unless you start 3 WR's, then the net gain may be more) so I dont know that this trade helps you a lot.

parker got aprox 1400 total yds and 5 TDS last year. so I dont think my assumptions for him are too far out. so I guess where you gotta make your call is....do you think my estimate on Ronnie brown's production will be accurate.

splitting time, brown had 200 carries for 900+ yards. (4.5 yards per carry aprox) and equal receiving yards with an equal # of TD's to parker.

if he gets 350 carries at 4 yards per carry (lower productivity assumed) he gets 1400 yards and he gets lots of Ricky's carries so I'd boost his TDS to at least 10 (although he could easily get more)

I'd expect 1700-1800 total yards and 10-12 TD's over the year. worst case scenario of 15 Fantasy points per game, best case close to 20.

if he gets 4.5 yards per carry like last year, this puts him closer to 17 fantasy points per game

based on this, I wouldnt make the trade.

PS. I think that Holt should improve the receiving numbers by 4-5 points per game

  18. Yikes!! A solid no then. Green is hurt, Grossman is meh, and Jordan is a huge gamble right now.

Yeah, I gotta agree. Grossman has looked good against subpar defenses this year, but he hasnt shown enough where I'd take a leap of faith on him and make him my #1 QB.

Dont make this trade. McNabb is an Elite QB that (in my opinion) is almost as good as manning but without the hype.

Even if you dont feel hes that good, You can get more for McNabb if you shopped him around. However, I think hes as good as money in the bank. He puts up elite numbers year after year, and many of those years he did it with receivers who arent half as good as the ones he has right now. (with the exception of the year with Owens as his #1 guy)

The only reason I'd look to trade him is if I felt he wasnt fully healthy for some reason. and right now he looks fine.....

  19. heck yea you take it. You get a teir 1 WR and a tier 2 RB for a Tier 2 RB.

    http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.p...howtopic=236568

I consider Ronnie Brown to be a Tier 1 RB. His numbers dont show it right now, but he also played two really tough Defenses in week 1 and week 2 and hes still a top 7 RB league wide for fantasy points (depending on your scoring system)

once he gets through with a couple of the weaker Defenses he has coming up, You'll probably come to the conclusion that he may be in the top tier.

in many respects he is a complete back. He can catch passes and he can run.

    You'll see.

That being said.... I'm not making comments on the trade itself cuz whether this trade is good for him can depend on a number of things:

    1) what his team looks like currently.

    2) the scoring system.

    3) whether or not it is a keeper/dynasty league (this would make brown more valuable)
