  1. I dont agree with ranking Tiki Barber #4.

I'm sorry, but Given his age, and the workload he had last year, I just dont think hes capable of duplicating the amazing season he has last year. I'd say that last season is going down in history as his best season of his career. Also, My feeling is that the passing game will develop further, and he wont get as many touches. I also think he will get some goal line carries taken from him this year. (the biggest reason for my downgrading him... less TD's)

I also think you rank Edge too high. I would lower him. Not due to talent, but due to playing on a weaker team with a weaker O-Line. His numbers have to drop from last year even if he gets more carries, I wouldnt count on his numbers getting better. He may be the fourth or fifth best all around back in the NFL, but he will be #10 or 11 in terms of fantasy points due to the team he is on.

I also think Ronnie brown will have a huge year. I'd go on about that, but I've done so on ronnie brown forums for the last month and you guys dont need to hear it again.

I would rank Rudi Johnson #4

    Ronnie Brown #5

    Stephen Jackson #6

    Lamont Jordan #7

    Portis #8 (because of injury)

    Edge #9

    Barber #10

    Cadillac #11

However, it is worth noting, I feel that the difference from #6 to #11 is not exceptionally large in terms of production. So if you prefer one over another I wouldnt debate it... I'd just take the player I like best. (sometimes this is the fun thing about fantasy football)

also, in a keeper league, I would upgrade Cadillac due to his young age and the fact I think he will get better still.

  2. Edge = experienced veteran who's proven he can do it time and again.

RBrown = sophmore RB who shared carries last year that everyone speculates is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

    Take Edge.

well, I wouldnt exactly call him unproven.

He started a handful of games last year, and got close to 1000 yards.

this is better than about 1/3 of the starters out there who dont share carries. and if he starts 2 or 3 more games, he would likely have been in the top 1/3 of rbs.

caution is still to be used a bit cuz hes still a young player, but with the numbers I've seen and the games I've watched, I think hes the real deal.

if its a keeper league, I'd take brown.

if its a redraft league, I would say that they will have comparable numbers this year, so take the one you like better.

  3. yeah, dont coddle them.

tell them that a change in scoring or keeper structure of the league needs to be voted on (2/3 majority) with implementation for the NEXT season unless 100% of the teams agree to do it for this season.

rules like this should be in the constitution, but if they're not, you should put them in.

  4. Hey, I love rod smith and have done well keeping him on my team over the years....

but at his age, I would bet that Walker would be the #1 guy. I figure they brought him here specifically for that reason. Thats why Lele is pissed because that's the job he wanted. Once the writing was on the wall, he had a temper tantrum and demanded a trade.

Rod will be a quality #2 possession receiver, but the big gun will be walker.

I figure smith(if he stays healthy) will be lucky to put up draftable numbers.

  5. what about Brandon Stokely?

with Edge gone, I think they may pass the ball more than they did last season. I think this means more balls for the #3 option in what is still an amazing passing offense.

  6. well, for what I think it's worth, I dont think this is a situation where you can make the deal.

for what you would need to give up(a top player, and a top draft pick and maybe another player and possibly more if he is a tough negotiator), I dont think Alexander will put you over the top.

Of course, i havnt seen the rest of your team so I cant say for sure.... but the part of the team I do see, doesnt look like a championship squad.

If I were to make a package deal of that sort, I'd go after a younger player Like LT or LJ. then you have a couple years to build around him. Given SA's age, that's not an option. You deal for guys like him to win this year.

  7. I'd make that trade and not think twice about it.

but do you seriously think that the league wouldnt veto this?

Matt Jones isnt even in the ballpark of reggie bush when it comes to talent.

bush will get his carries, and his yards. Most likely 800 yards rushing and 400 yards receiving. 6-8 rushing touchdowns and 3-5 receiving touchdowns.

and that is if McAllister is healthy. if hes not... the numbers will get better.

I like matt jones. got him on my team, but he wont put up 1000 yards receiving this year unless all the planets align perfectly.

I've got him pegged for 800 or 900 yards and 7-8 touchdowns.

  8. As an Eagle fan I'm loving every report about what a disruptive jackass Owens is being. I knew he'd throw his QB under the bus and start pulling this sheet at some point, but I figured it wouldn't have happend until Week 6 or so. I'm delighted to see that TO hasn't gotten any more mature or learned a thing during his time off. Here's hoping he poisons the locker room of yet another team and drives Parcells into retirement.

That said ... I have a feeling Owens' mystery injuries are going to clear up once the real season starts. The thing about TO is that he just loves attention. When things are rolling and he's scoring TDs he gets the spotlight and all is good. When the team isn't doing well or nothing important is happening, like in the preseason, Owens creates distractions just to goad the media into reporting on it. Then he complains that the media blow things out of proportion.

Anyway, the guy is a Grade A ass hole but he is a remarkable talent. At least he was for a year and a half with the Eagles. Who knows how he'll be now? He's 32, hasn't played in quite awhile and IMO Bledsoe isn't nearly the downfield passer that McNabb is. If Dallas starts the year winning and Owens gets the ball everything will be gold.

If Parcells decides he's had enough though forget it - you are never going to win a battle of wills with Owens because he's 100% selfish and he knows he can hurt the Cowboys more than they can hurt him.

Parcells wouldnt come out the loser if TO pulled the same crap.

I think parcells would do the same thing the eagles did. Sit him. Take away his stage....and if he doesnt start to practice soon, I can see Owens missing game 1.

Parcells loves to make examples out of people, and Owens is putting himself in harms way.

I'd say there's a 50/50 chance that Owens plays game 1 right now. And I wouldnt feel good about betting on either side of that bet.

  9. if he will give you TO for Rod Smith You should take the deal and run.

I cant see any downside to this deal.

although I cant see anyone being dumb enough to let TO go for so cheap... but you never know....

  10. Barlow by a mile. He has the best chance to start and play all season. But if you are stacked and wish to take a flyer White and Morency have good upside.

I agree. Barlow will be a starter for game 1 of the season. the rest wont likely start until game 6 or later.

But if any of the other guys show signs of performing around game 6 or 7, jump on em quick.

  11. well, I was faced with a similar choice in my keeper draft (3 keepers)except that you can keep the keepers indefinitely if you choose.

I picked bush and got a little lucky and was able to take Julius Jones with my second round pick.

This left my top 3 RB's as LT, Bush, JJ.

As bush is a rookie and JJ has a tendency to get hurt, I later picked up Barlow (off waivers) to be my #4 RB.

I'm happy with my choice... and a lot of guys have tried to acquire Bush Via Trade.

even if you dont like Bush, if there's lots of guys in your league who are keen on him, I'd pick him anyhow.

  12. The trade is practially a wash.

I expect Brown & Jackson to put up similar numbers. (I prefer brown, but jackson is the safer pick)

and I love both Hasselbeck & McNabb. Hasselbeck is the safer choice, but McNabb(when healthy) is the better QB. (he has a history of doing more with less)

if this is a keeper league, I make the deal.

  13. If I recall, Palmers injury was to the knee.

It's not like he is a RB.....this wont affect his performance drastically other than his ability to scramble.

keep palmer and dont look back. Sometimes the best trade you can make is no trade at all, and this is one of those times.

    also worth noting:

if you insist on trading him, I'd wait for him to come back, play one solid game.... then you'll get a lot more for him than you'll get right now. People will jump back on the wagon big time.

  14. Well you hope someone picks Peyton before your 6th pick and that just gives you another option at a stud RB. But if it goes like you suggested I would rate those guys like this:

    1) Rudi

    2) Ronnie

    3) Edge

    4) Lamont

    5) Caddy

This guy isnt too far off the mark.

I prefer Ronnie Brown over Rudi, but I have a feeling Brown will explode this year(my own opinion) and I have a bias (More personal preference than anything).

in a keeper draft I'd upgrage Ronnie brown to #1 and Cadillac to #3. but in a redraft league I'd say you wont go wroing with this guys recommendation.

  15. Thanks for the reply. It makes more sense to draft the best available player now that I think about it. I was worried there was some inherent advantage to starting 3 RBs.

    There is an advantage.

RB's are more consistant. The average starting RB should get 80 yards and a score almost every game. (I'd say 8-15 points in the bank)

A good receiver will get about the same, and some Receivers can do better, but not as often and they are much less consistant. so unless your flex is an elite calibre receiver(not likely), you should use a RB as your flex.

  16. Let me get this straight, Joseph Addai is on waivers in your league?

Although there is uncertainity he was ranked very high in several drafts. Are you playing with 10 year olds?

Remember this is a 6 team draft. Some teams #3 Rb in this league could be a #1 in a 12 team league.

I wouldnt have Addai on my team in a 6 team league either.

oh, and also, I'd keep ronnie brown.

In a 6 team league there is no reason to pay to upgrade a TE.

I have a feeling a TE(maybe two) will emerge that will kick butt this year.... I just dont know who it will be. There's lots of good candidates for it.

and SD has a new QB so I wouldnt risk it.

  17. well, I really cant say I blame the guy.

I'm not big on acquiring injured players with one of my top 3 picks unless it's a keeper draft and you can keep the guy for years to come.

and the fact that they traded for another RB means that his injury may be more serious than we know.

I would hold off on judgement here until the extent of the injury is fully known.

  18. you'd be dumb not to do that trade.

Eli manning is guaranteed to put up respectable numbers for you. And he has the potential to put up spectacular numbers.

Addai has proven nothing. He has good potential, but at this point, that's all he has. He may put up good numbers in the future, but I dont think he will become an elite player.

Manning has that potential, so I think you have to do it.
