I don't think that is what happened,  I think Lewis pulled in people he felt could help the flagging paper.....it was the filth who work there that only saw "white men".....instead of people who could help.

The truth sometimes hurts. The people he brought in to turn it around ARE white men. If he thought he could do it with someone else he likely would.   It probably hurts the feelings of the bleeding heart liberals there.

Racists are going be racists, suggesting someone is not capable because of their color is pure racist filth.   Maybe this guy has to gut that place, because it sure sounds like a den of racist scum

So when the shitt hits the fan they bring in white guys to fix it? His commitment to diversity mean he will hire more women in HR.

I don't think it's crazy at all. Harrison is probably the best WR ever coming out of college, if not damn close.

Why would you be shocked by a top 10 finish? I think it's more likely than not.

I bet you rome odunze has a better year as the 3rd option in the bears stacked offense than harrison does in the cards not great offense Defenses are just going to roll coverage to him. If hollywood was still there I would be less worried. Asking a rookie wr to step in and become a top 10 on a still bad team is a lot.

Hooray! Maybe some psycho killer can top that Las Vegas guy now :overhead:

The Supreme Court on Friday struck down a ban on bump stocks enacted by the Trump administration after a deadly mass shooting in Las Vegas in 2017.

The decision, by a vote of 6 to 3, split along ideological lines. Justice Clarence Thomas, writing for the majority, found that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives had exceeded its power when it prohibited the device, an attachment that enables a semiautomatic rifle to fire at a speed rivaling that of a machine gun.

The agency, he added, had overstepped in issuing a rule that classified bump stocks as machine guns.

“We hold that a semiautomatic rifle equipped with a bump stock is not a ‘machine gun’ because it cannot fire more than one shot ‘by a single function of the trigger,’” Justice Thomas wrote. He included several diagrams of the firing mechanism in the opinion.

Justice Sotomayor summarized her dissent from the bench, a practice reserved for profound disagreements and the first such announcement of the term. “The majority puts machine guns back in civilian hands,” she said.

“When I see a bird that walks like a duck, swims like a duck and quacks like a duck, I call that bird a duck,” Justice Sotomayor wrote. “A bump stock-equipped semiautomatic rifle fires ‘automatically more than one shot, without manual reloading, by a single function of the trigger.’ Because I, like Congress, call that a machine gun, I respectfully dissent.”

To be fair. It does not make it a machine gun. It does not fit the criteria. Congress can MAKE a law that covers a bump stock and they can make it illegal but under the current law this simply does not fit the definition.  The ATF just can not start judging something as a machine gun that is not. That leads to them being able to call anything a "machine gun"

maybe so, but teams dont do that sort of thing with their starting QB when the they are winning.   It only happens when they are losing.

its really a performance thing no matter how you slice and dice it.   They realized they were not gonna win any superbowls with him there, and paved the way for a Russell Wilson Exit.

either way, hes pro calibre.   the guy hes replacing was not.  so yeah I think the WR perform better.   but Wilson is no spring chicken.  I'm not predicting big things.   just a moderate improvement.

I think that sean payton never wanted him. He had it baked into his agreement with the owners that he was cutting bait with him asap in order to clear the cap space and not making it to the superbowl was good enough reason as any to cut him.

Oh for sure he is not going to lead the league in the counting stats suddenly. But a bounce back to 35-40 tds would be huge . Pickens talent was wasted last year by a qb that just could not make the throws. That did not seem to be a problem with wilson last year.

I dont know about financial reasons.   I think it was the slow start to the season that did him in (and the previous years shitshow that was terrible for everyone)

    he performed adequately for fantasy.

that said, it could be a system thing for Wilson.  if the system is right, he can play.   hard to say for sure.   but I still think he an improvement on what they had last year.  so thats good news for the WR in that offense

The Broncos told him that if he did not remove a clause in his contract guaranteeing him money if he got hurt they would bench him. He didn't and they did. I really think any upgrade at QB would be great for the Wrs there. It was painful to watch Kenny Pickett play qb. I can not even imagine how bad it felt to have him throwing the ball to you.

the Denver WR were supposed to do this when Wilson arrived in Denver.   Not sure I'd call that a success.   but at the same time Wilson performed better last year.   too little too late to save his job there, but maybe things will be different this time.

To be fair denver was a shittshow and he still had a 26/8 ratio last year and he got benched for financial reasons. With a good team, a good defense and good coaching he is likely to be in the 25-40 td range again. If that happens the most likely person to benifit would be pickins who had 5 tds last year with a terrible qb throwing to him. He could have 15 tds this year.

They want "revenue" sharing?  Guess they'd better open up their checkbooks and pay the league back accordingly.

Historically they lost 10 mil a year for a low end estimate of 300 million over the course of its history. Now it is losing 5 years worth of previous losses a year?  If the NBA did not view this as a charity case they would have folded 6 months into existence

The WNBA is on track to lose 50 million this year

How??? It's such an amazing product.

Listen to this dummy talk. She lives in a  dream world where she wants 50 percent revenue sharing in a league that loses 50 mil a year.   33 percent of ALL attendance this year has been for Fever games. Imagine their books without her. They should just admit it is not the same as the NBA, lower the rims and play an entertaining brand of basketball. Maybe they would draw fans.

  10. Despite the recent explosion of the popularity of the WNBA, led by stars including Caitlin Clark, the league is hemorrhaging money, with losses expected to rise to up to $50m this year, according to a report.

Popular players such as Clark, Angel Reese and Sue Bird, have all earned individual sponsorship deals off the back of their successes, though the WNBA still lags far behind other major US sports leagues in terms of revenue.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said in 2018 that the WNBA had lost an average of more than $10m per year since its founding. Sources with knowledge of the figures, who spoke to The Washington Post anonymously, said that that loss was expected to increase five-fold by the end of 2024.

“The truth is, this league would be hard-pressed to exist without the NBA,” one WNBA team executive told The Post. The individual spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the league’s finances.

Last year, the league was valued at between $180m and $200m, according to Bloomberg – a fraction of its male counterpart, the NBA, which earns more than $10bn.

A deal over next year’s broadcast rights to the WNBA, currently valued around $60m, are under negotiation by the NBA, which owns 60 percent of the league.

Bloomberg News and The Wall Street Journal reported the deal for the NBA will be worth more than $7bn per year – but for both leagues. Value figures for the WNBA have not been assigned specifically, meaning the league’s rising popularity may not factor much into how much money it receives in the deal.

Several media executives have predicted that through the deal the WNBA could triple its annual rights revenue to somewhere between $180m and $200m. According to The Post however, the value of the rights will ultimately not be decided by media companies, but by the NBA.

“If you’re not getting a number from the media companies, then you are hanging on to the NBA,” Laura Gentile, an industry consultant and ESPN’s former chief marketing officer, told The Post.

“You’re saying it’s a rounding error in the grand scheme of business. Maybe that’s the case, but it doesn’t help the ecosystem grow. Women’s sports want accountability; they want their growth projections to matter.”

Some believe although the NBA may fairly recognize the increasing value and popularity of the women’s league, it will still be somewhat hamstrung by the ties.

“Even if the money is less, I would rather have independent money, because then you have a real business,” David Samson, the former president of MLB’s Miami Marlins, told The Post.

“If a media company says we value the WNBA at X, that’s a real value of what the WNBA’s rights are. Otherwise, it’s like buying social media followers: perceived value but not real.”

  11. I love him. I think he is just what they needed. That being said there is zero chance that I am taking him that early. Could he perform to that level? Yes. WILL he? Probably not. He would need to put up really great numbers and are the cards going to be able to support great numbers? Had they kept Brown I think they could have. Expecting him to be the man right off the rip with defenses likely keying in on him is probably not realistic

  12. Brian Daboll told reporters that “something happened a few weeks ago” to Bellinger and his participation in spring and summer practices has since been limited. It’s unclear if Bellinger sustained a serious injury, but it will be something to monitor in the coming weeks. Bellinger, who had 30 catches for 268 yards and two touchdowns over 11 games in 2022, profiles as the Giants’ clear No. 1 tight end after the retirement of Darren Waller. Rookie TE Theo Johnson would be next up if Bellinger misses time during the preseason or regular season

This weak mindset is why it was allowed to happen in the first place.

I disagree. You can feel however you want on your own time and your own place. People are different and I accept that. I am not willing to accept that because in your mind you feel like a woman that we should all pretend to ignore you have the body of a post pubescent  male or the fact that you need to be using the bathroom associated with the gender you were born as.

Trans swimmer L Thomas ineligible to participate in summer olympics.  Great for woman’s sports.  🎉🥳👍

What is crazy to me is that he was ever allowed to compete with women. I do not care what is going on in your head. You can claim whatever you want and be whatever you want. That being said your rights end when they start to infringe on those of others. Women have the right to compete against women. Not men who feel like they are women. To believe that he does not have a significant advantage over women is to not live in reality for the sake of being woke.
