Trump talk only- no Eagles talk allowed (Steelers talk is OK though)

@thegeneral has made it clear that he isn't influenced by media. Therefore he really thinks that Vance wearing a costume in college is important. -

Fair enough. There are liberals here, like Tim and Squizzy, who think that the fact that the MSM Borg reports the same stuff, often verbatim, that they are an impartial arbiter of news. This is patently false. Folks like you like to say "but Fox!", like a single source somehow overcomes the impact of ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, NYT, WaPo, LAT, NPR, PBS, AP, many many others. A lot of folks aren't into politics like we are, and they are watching/reading all of these sources as if they are objective truth. It saddens me and is a soapbox I often stump on. I'd like to think we used to have an objective media, although without the internet and sources like X to allow actual free speech, it's hard to tell. -

Of course we will in general. That wasn't the topic though. The extent to which her socialistic desires get implemented may depend somewhat on the makeup of Congress. But no, I don't expect government to take over private industry, for instance. My main point was that that seemed like an odd thing to include in your list to jonmx, because, well, she kinda is socialist. -
Can we still get photos of their female beach volleyball players' asses? That's my biggest concern.

Kamala's historical positions are quite socialist. Perhaps communist is a better description? Medicare for all (i.e., nationalized health care with no private insurance), same healthcare plus public education for illegal aliens, equity instead of equality. Now we are getting gaslit about how she has reversed all of her positions. Low-intelligence people slurp up the pap. -
Yeah, you aren't alone. I used to try to correct people, but I've come to just embrace it.

Of course not. But it's an interesting question. I lived in a fraternity, and we ran/cleaned/managed the house, including food, repairs, etc. I learned a shiot ton of life experience from that . But it had nothing to do with racial diversity. We had black and hispanic guys in our house, but we never sat around talking about their life experiences. We were too busy trying to pass hard focking classes. Also, I'm pretty sure the Mexican guy in my pledge class was the richest one of us by far. That's my experience of how "diversity" goes at such places, btw. They aren't drawing kids from the hood. They get the rich BIPOC kids who had a good STEM upbringing.

So, it's happening, but it's rare. Got it, boyo. -
Here is a link to an interview with the Dean of Admissions on this topic: https://news.mit.edu/2024/qa-undergraduate-admissions-in-wake-of-supreme-court-ruling-0821?fbclid=IwY2xjawFBk0pleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHZRgSG84QERAoc75xvkwJxgQyceroOm17Z0mixhr6lv8A_oDVs9FVZJa_g_aem_C4cBy7FotcpuDfmD9SlC4Q A few things caught my attention: - He argues that a lot of the best and brightest tell them in surveys that they want a diverse student body. It's an interesting argument. Basically they risk having fewer admits actually attend. - He states that there is a problem with STEM education for BIPOC in K-12. Yes!!! That is the problem. But you can't fix that problem by admitting kids who haven't shown they have what it takes to succeed. The problem needs to be addressed before college. - He adds that they have had higher grades and graduation rates since increasing diversity. Hmm, why might that be? Could it be... grade inflation? Fear by professors of failing the black student? It isn't because less-qualified students are performing better. -

Did you read my earlier post? Gaza was given freedom 20 years ago, they chose Hamas. And would again today. They don't want economic stability and freedom. They want hate and barbaric behavior.

We agree on Hamas. So, what is the end game with Hamas in your scenario?

Seafoam doesn't realize that edjr is joking about his roster. He'll let this thread die or delete it. Probably. -
I find such posts from you frustrating. I'd like to think that you realize that the Left and MSM has failed with these hostages, but you just can't help with the "both sides are bad" stuff. Oh well, at least you acknowledge that Hamas is an evil terrorist organization. There is no moral relativism issue with this conflict. It is the most clear, obvious, morally absolute support decision in the history of conflicts. Hamas is evil, they must be destroyed. 20 years ago Palestinians were given the freedom to elect leaders, and they chose Hamas, whose stated charter remains the elimination of all Jews worldwide. 20 years later, Gaza is still a shiot hole mired in the 1200s. And if given the freedom to elect leaders again, the polling shows that the vast majority of Palestinians would choose... Hamas again. When I hear "Free Palestine!", I always respond in my head, "from Hamas!" Biden/Harris is absolutely culpable for forcing Israel to slow-play this, presumably to win the votes of a cohort of terrorist-lovers in Michigan. That shows a severe lack of moral compass. Similarly, the MSM issuing reports en masse that Hersh "has died" in the headline shows a lack of moral compass from our media. He was brutally executed, say the words MSM. Had Israel been given the support and freedom to do what is needed, this conflict would be over by now. Yes, more Palestinians would be dead. Some innocents, many supporters. Many babies. That's unfortunate, but war is ugly. But it is the only way this ends with the hope that what rises from the ashes is actually a productive, safe, prosperous region. Currently this slow-play leads us to a path of... what exactly?

taking part in a 12 team in person draft right now
jerryskids replied to edjr's topic in The Geek Club
I played in an 8-teamer with FF newbies once where my team actually looked like this. By the end of the season every one of my starters was top-5 at the position. I lost the finals to a team that was around .500 and I was favored by a bazillion. I say this because I think you are one of the "FF is all luck" people. -

When I joined my main money league back in the 90s, we were all local (worked for the same company) and drafted at my friend's house Saturday morning, the day before the first games (this was before the Thursday games). No interwebs, just magazines and pre-printed name tags and draft boards as part of our ESPN fees. Beer and bloodies a plenty; our wives dropped us off and came back at the end to drive us home afterward. Since then, a lot of owners have moved away, so we couldn't keep the league together without online drafting. But, banging out a 17 round 12 teamer in under 90 minutes while sitting at your computer just isn't the same experience. Now get off my lawn. -

It was a training wheels, bumper bowling, Fisher Price interview. Pre-recorded, friendly network, friendly interviewer, cut more than half. An intelligent person would presume Harris had the questions beforehand. Bash did OK until she started feeding her answers to help rescue her, things like, "regarding fracking, did you learn any new data?" It would have been great if Bash knew, and said, "actually, in the 2020 debates you said Joe Biden supports fracking. You never said YOU support fracking. But in 2019, you were quite clear that you don't." I enjoy how you say things with such confidence, things like Harris is going to destroy Trump in the debates. Harris has proven that she sucks really bad if she goes the slightest off script. Trump, on the other hand, lives to riff off script. You think that is bad, but he destroyed the Republican field in 2016. A really good, capable, seasoned debater could overcome Trump's style. Sorry, but that ain't Harris. Hence why the main point of the link is true: Team Blue is askeered of how these debates will go. All while calling Trump scared, which is laughable and I presume aimed at low-info voters. -

Yeah, I saw the letter from Kornbluth posted on my class's Facebook page. The comments were predictably apoplectic that the evil SCOTUS is ruining MIT's diversity! I just want to shake them and tell them that MIT's charter is not to be a very good, diverse tech school, it is to be the best tech school. Just about any other school can accommodate diversity.

So, you are a coward. Welcome to the Harris regime. Also, I've been posting here 21+ years, met dozens of posters, and have made numerous real life friends. You are on the Mount Rushmore of worst posters here, posting nothing but Bible quotes. I would absolutely challenge you to a pole where one of us leaves the bored forever. But you are a coward. -
10 team PPR is for wimmen. Two kickers is for the special needs olympics. I feel like we have this discussion every year. Are these people incapable of changing? That being said... - Breece #2 in a full point PPR is a bit bold. I presume CMC went first? If you think he is the real deal, then I'm not going to argue. I'm not in that camp, hence my comment. I'd have gone Cee Dee. - London at #19, eh, depends who was there. I prefer Olave for instance. But I wouldn't call it a reach. - Evans at #21 though seems like a reach. - No 5th pick? - Cooks in the 6th is a reach. - McBride in the 9th is criminal; how was he still there? - You don't start two QBs, right? If so, that's a lot of draft capital on QBs. And a reach for Prescott that early. I like both those QBs though. - I like X Worthy as a high upside pick. It will be interesting to see if anyone emerges as the must have for the Chiefs. Rice would seem to be guy. HTH

A brave man makes tough decisions. By abstaining, you are helping Harris and her extremely progressive agenda win Nevada. Thanks for nothing, coward.
