I've got a few neighbors with yards littered with signs, all liberal. There are three candidates that show up as a group in all these yards. I voted for... not them.

Lucky you. One I voted for is a change in the requirements to get an initiative on the ballot. Currently it is 15% of the population statewide needs to sign a petition for a constitutional amendment (less for other initiatives). The proposed change would be 15% from each county, or maybe legislative district. With the current method, people just focus on Phoenix, a little bit Tucson, because that's where the population density is. But that kinda leaves the rest of the state without a voice. Also, the change will make it harder because they'll have to get 15% of, I dunno, the Navajo nation to sign it. Also, I have officially voted!

In AZ, our absentee ballots are tracked automatically. I get both a text and email notifying me when my ballot is mailed to me, when they receive mine back, and when it is counted. I don't need to proactively track anything. New this year is that they've had some polling places open early. I chose to drop mine off at such a place instead of mail it in. That was earlier this week, and I was surprised by the steady stream of people voting. I couldn't imaging voting in person this time around. Our ballot was two large sheets of paper, front and back. In addition to all of the federal, state, county, and city positional elections, we had over 10 state constitutional amendments, another 10 initiatives from the state/county/city, a bunch of judges... if you went into the booth without having researched it, you would be there for an hour or more. On a side note, my basic strategy was to vote "no" on constitutional amendments unless the amendment makes it harder to propose an amendment; those I voted "yes" for. I don't understand AZ's obsession with amendments. We have legislatures whose job it is to make laws.
