Privilege is definitely more about income than race. But poor people are more likely to be back. You can stop your narrative about “if the races were reversed we’d hear about this nonstop!!” though. A white dude killed a black government worker because he didn’t pay his taxes, and no one cares.

I didn’t say it was your (or “white people’s) fault. It’s moreso that having privilege makes it less likely that you grow up to be a criminal, and you seem to acknowledge that not having privilege makes it more likely that you do grow up to be a criminal. Clearly these people should be executed, but as @peenie just said, using this example to put down all black people is racist.

How do you feel about the source used (but not cited) by the OP? Reminder that the metric he cited was “violent crime excluding simple assault” from the National Crime Victimization survey. That number increased from 5.6 per 1000 people 12 years and older in 2021, to 9.8 in 2022. If you’re interested in the year 2000, 2022 is a decrease from that which was 12.4. Simple assault does seem to have a big impact on the overall crime victimization numbers. While the metric excluding simple assault is still a bit higher, total violent victimization is about equal to the prior high in 2018. And overall there had been a pretty steady decline from 1993 when the survey started until about 2010. Since then it has been mostly flat with some small ups and downs. Do you think the amount of it has changed much in the past year or so?

Privilege (or lack thereof) does seem to be a factor here though (including with this dude’s son who apparently killed someone when he was 12). If you have a criminal as a parent there’s a lot higher chance you’ll be one too.
