Round 5 Commentary

Recommended Posts

The run on QB's should be coming soon -- then it's a sleeper free for all. Hopefully in the midst of all that I can pick up 2 decent starting WR's and a TE -- doubt it but who knows.

Would you stop trying to talk everyone into drafting QB's so yoy can steal some WR's.

Morning gentlemen.

Had to go with Rod Smith to start Round 5. Pure value pick there.....actually kinda surprised he dropped that far.

David Boston was Plummer's favorite target and threw to him all the time (I know Arizona had nothing else), but still, when he locks in with somebody, he looks for him a lot. And I fully expect for him to do it with Rod Smith.

Nice pick JJJ....it was either Toomer or Smith for me.

By the way...how the heck did you get all these picks? 6 already....damn.

It was between Toomer and 2 others....

I doubt either will fall to my next pick 20 picks away but hey...whaddya want. Toomer as my #3....i'll be ok with that!

And I want to thank Steve for helping me out with that trade BIG TIME!

OK Now I am getting annoyed. Why are people blaming me for Joeys team? I didn't draft 108 yr old Rod Smith before a top 10 WR. I didn't draft a scrub RB in the 4th round. I didn't draft 3 TE's in the first 4 rounds. So Joey has 6 picks. He has:

Priest Holmes RB KC: A guy who may not play again and his hip may fall off.

Charlie Garner RB OAK: Not very good.

Hines Ward WR PIT: May not be the best WR on his team.

Peerless Price WR ATL: A guy who may or may not be able to handle being the #1. I think not. Anyone remember Johnnie Morton.

Rich Gannon QB OAK: Over the hill QB in the TWilight of his career. MVP last year but this guys older than smith.

Amani Toomer WR NY: A guy who got half his stats in 2 games last year and has a rookie TE scalping his catches.

Bottom line: Joeyjoe and I switched places in round 1 and 2. I got RW and Stephen Davis and he got Holmes and Garner. I would argue that my 2 RB are far superior especially if Holmes is limited. He got a 4th and I got an 8th. He drafted Toomer with the extra pick. A guy who is way overrated without a bit of consistency. I would be willing to bet that I can draft a WR in the 8th that will outperform Toomer. I am happy with what I got out of the trade so don't blame me for your drafting shortcomings!

Steve - If I could actually talk people in this draft into drafting a certain way to better myself -- tehy deserve what they get. In this draft the owners are way to smart to fall for that !

though I had some time to kill so i thought I would try any way :D

I still think my team is better than Joey's. In two years at least 3 of the 6 players he drafted will be out of the NFL. The other 3 are WRs, which as everyone knows is the position in the NFL with the most depth. My team on the other hand, is very young with tons of upside and I've still got a few aces up my sleeves when it comes to later picks.

Easy Steve...Geez! Just havin a little fun.

As for my team....

My team is totally a gamble.

I'll either come out smelling like a rose or stinkin' out the joint.

No biggie.

Steve -- i am looking back through this thread -- and who the hell is blaming you for anything ? If anyone was saying anything they were just focking around - nothing aimed at you. Don't take it so personally dude.

Divine Destruction: " Looks like steve's trade is kicking us all squarly in the balls. Nice pick with Toomer and excellent team thus far Joey." Unless you have a glasses and reading problem that looks like someone blaming me.

Don't worry Steve, I don't blame you for Joey's old fogey team.

On second thought, yours isn't much younger!

I am not blaming anyone, I think you both have good teams and I am satisfied with mine. I just thought it was pretty funny. still think you could have got equal value and a 4th round pick without making the trade but thats you. It does give him an advantage having an extra pick. You have to acknowledge that & thats what it is. May work, may not. I agree with everything you said steve except the Garner comment.

People disagreed with a trded you made a few months ago -- so focking what ! It's their problem not yours for not making a trade themselves. As far as blaming -- the DD post was a softball thrown in jest -- Blaming you would be something much different and more direct ----- geeeeezzzzz

But if you see it that way -- whatever floats your boat.

That is the way I saw it. And Moz don't try to explain others posts. You have no clue what somebody else is thinking when they post. You barely seem to have a grasp on your own mind.

The frustrating part is people don't let everyone know when they are going to be gone. If you just jump on and post a note saying I'm going to be gone for xx time period, then we don't have to check back every 30 minutes just to see no activity.

This weekend is going to be really tough with the holiday. I will be traveling from Saturday morning and return on Monday. I will only be able to check in once or twice each day.

I do not belive we will be drafting over the weekend. I am going out of town and I know Paul is as well. I assume some of you will be going out of town so I probably will just put the draft on hold from friday until Tuesday. We will most likely get more than half done before then and we still have quite a bit of time until Captain Lou goes on vacation.

Rod Smith is not 108 years old!!!!!!!! Or atleast I hope not....didn't check that one out :D

Well, seriously, he's only 33, and has only missed three games in the past six years. Heck, he's only two years older than Marvin Harrison and Joe Horn

Maybe should have gone Toomer....but decided to go with Smith. Get off my frekin back

Probably a good idea, but there is way we get 1/2 done by Friday night unless the pace changes.

I agree. I do not understand why people just won't send a list. There is always someone you can send it to that does not pick before you. I can understand if you are a large number of picks away but if you are 2 or 3 picks away why not send a list to someone? Come on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We don't have to put it on hold, just go in and make a pick when you have time. We can call off the time limit penalty, but don't just hault the draft.

By the way, anyone thinking about moving up in this round?

Since you and I might be jockeying for the same positions, I just might be eyeing up the guy you want. Although with all this old foggie talk I am getting all excited about E.Smith. He is a fossil too.
