Round 5 Commentary

Because the people now waiting for the player to fall to them at 7 are SOL.

I cannot afford to wait 20 picks in hopes a player will fall to me, if he is available and I feel he is worth it I expend the pick...I draft by where I see a players value to my needs, not off of a generic cheat sheet.

My biggest dissapoint of the draft was A-train, I didn't want to be caught without 2 RBs...how he pans out only time will tell.

That is not my opinion. That is the talent scout's opinion. that is Mooch's opinion. That is even Roger's opinion. I need to get better at my short and intermediate routes. It is unlikely Rogers makes a large impact this year. These are all things I heard coming out of the first mini camp.

Vick should not be in that list. He is a special talent and one that doesn't come around to often.

W4MVP I don't see Shockey going much to early. He is a great receiving TE and the Giants like to use his skills. He will outscore all but 1 or 2 TE by a significant margin, so this makes it a big advantage to have him on your team.

Lou,

I wouldn't. I am trying to build for the future as well as now. Neither Receiver will do anything this year where there are plenty of 2nd and 3rd year WR's that are still very young but will produce this year whereas these 2 will not. But if you see something special in these guys or you just plain want them I guess you feel the need to grab them.

My point also, stated much better by you.

I think McNabb was a better value than Vick short- and long-term. He's a proven leader and competitor and has been able to produce without any real threats at WR or RB. As for Shockey yeah he'll be great but he's a TE and he only scored twice last year. That's not good for a guy taken in the 4th.

I agree. I by no means like Paul's team but I don't mind the shockey pick or even the vick pick. Rb's like Bennett, Portis, Etc... seem to come around every year but only once in a while does a talent like vick come along.

Hot new fellow drafters. Thomas Jones will not have charges pressed against him for assault.

Draft him without fear now!!!! :D :D :D :D ;) ;)

Better value or better QB?. I belive this year or the following year Vick will just be phenominal.

Vick's potential is off the chart. Will he realize that potential is yet to be determined. It was a gamble as early as he was taken, but it could be "hit the lottery time" also.

Right now he's the better QB. Vick will probably be fantastic in a couple of years (I don't think he'll do THAT much better this year than last) but his style will get him hurt ALOT. I think he has amazing talent but McNabb is just on another level right now.

If Vick learns how to slide sometimes he will be well worth a 1st rounder I thought long and hard about taking him over faulk and might regret it. the reason I didn't is do to Vick throwing his body around like a tacklin dummy when he runs into traffic he can't avoid. He needs to SLIDE if he knows he can't aviod getting hit -- even if it's around the endzone ( unless its the late playoffs / superbowl ). I will say he is a special talent -- His arm isn't quite there yet ( accuracy ) and his reads aren't quite the best YET , But in maybe just 1 more year he will be the top QB in FF and will stay there for many years. I like McNabb as well but just don't think he is the same kind of athlete Vick is -- he is a great athlete don't get me wrong -- But if one is on a different Level -- It's Vick that is on a different level than McNabb in that department. But MCNabb is a solid # 2

I think everyone when posting time here states in EST -- so I think he will be back shortly -- hopefully.

Who did Vick have to throw to last year?

He must be Central, because I looked at my clock when he posted those times and it matched my time here. Another 45 minutes or so.

With his great SB game maybe he uses that as a springboard -- I doubt it but if RB is what you wanted here -- you got good value though there is RB that still han't been taken and I am very surprised.

Not necessarily. If you have your eye on him he will probably be there in the 8th.

He might be there in the 8th -- But I really doubt i can afford another RB that soon. And thought Rogers might of been snagged too soon -- I doubt he would have made it past Brain in the same round - he is who I wanted and If I didn't pick him when I did I likley wouldn't have him -- If he busts so be it.
