RicemanX 20 Posted March 12, 2006 WTF?! We don't have a #1 or 2 reciever!! I thought we were going to sign Randel El, and now, there is nobody in the market worth signing, and if we pick Chad Jackson with #6 I'm going to be angry as hell. Any insiders here that could help me out and let me know what they are thinking?

RicemanX 20 Posted March 12, 2006 Was the Chad Jackson at 6 a joke?..... I hope so.... Chad Jackson, oops, not Johnson. It was a joke, I'm just panicing about our WR sit man. Personally, I would love AJ Hawk at 6 or better, Ferguson. Maybe someone like Moss or Avant later in the draft.
football_scooter 0 Posted March 12, 2006 I want them to draft nothing but DBs and OL. Maybe throw in a DL or LB here or there.
salparadise 1 Posted March 12, 2006 I want them to draft nothing but DBs and OL. Maybe throw in a DL or LB here or there. We have so many holes in our team right now I would not know where to begin. I would love for the niners to trade down to get a few more picks, pehaps then they could pick up a solid LB and a OL. Their DBs are very week too. Now that they lost Llyod, it looks like they will need to get at least 2 wideouts. Boy I miss the goold old days!

whoisjgalt 0 Posted March 12, 2006 If RaShaun Woods can get healthy and play for the full year, they'll at least have a chance to understand what they got for the investment of a first round pick in '04 (#31). Woods & Battle won't put fear in any pair of starting corners, but that's not the position to fix first. You gotta start inside/out - get good line play and then Smith will have a chance to throw the ball and these WR's will have a chance to catch it. And don't forget that the team's best receiver was on IR last year - Eric Johnson.

Now that they lost Llyod, it looks like they will need to get at least 2 wideouts. Boy I miss the goold old days! Keep in mind that the niners are among the most cap-healty teams, and as such are in a terrific position to build through FA and the draft. I wouldn't mind seeing them go after a couple veteran WRs and spending their draft picks (I believe they have 1.6, 2nd, two 3rd, 4th, 5th, two 6th, 1 7ths?) They're currently looking at Antonio Bryant, who is visiting Santa Clara right now. I wouldn't be surprised to see them go after him with an inexpensive 1-2 year contract, which I think is a much better move than spending big dollars on Lloyd. this is also somewhat concerning, and helps me to understand why Lloyd is now a Redskin: Defensive players particularly found him unsavory and a few of the defensive leaders, during a meeting between Nolan and selected veterans, told Nolan the locker room would be better off without Lloyd. Lloyd also alienated teammates when he refused to take any blame after backing off a pass at the goal line in the 17-9 loss to the Bears in Chicago in November. Lloyd repeatedly said quarterback Cody Pickett "threw the ball too early." Apparently they wanted JJerivicious, but the Browns beat them to him. Redskins are interested in Andre Carter as well (he's there now I believe), so they might get yet another pick out of them... The team is in a decent position economically to become a watchable product as early as 2006 - they won't be flashy and I doubt they'll be a contender, but they'll be a tougher team than people think. They are badly in need of a tight end. The inability of Eric Johnson staying healthy is hurting the entire offense - get a guy who can block and act as a safety valve and the Niners will benefit greatly. Vernon Davis would be a solid pick at 6th overall. Soft hands, 4.4x speed and set weightlifiting records at MD...would serve two needs in blocking and receiving. If Tenn takes Vince Young, and D'Brickashaw Ferguson makes it to the Niners, I can't see them passing him up. He could be a truly dominating player and Kwame "don't call me ka-wa-me" Harris just ain't gettin it done. If Mario Williams makes it past the Jets, Niners will have to consider him. They can really use any of those players, so I really hope that don't deal down. Each player I mentioned is a potential playmaker in his own right, and in my opinion are each solid addition to a rebuilding team. I wouldn't be surprised to see them take a Mario Williams or A.J. Hawk (who I think the Raidahs really want). Bryant Young can't keep it up on those knees. A couple of things seem certain though: 1. Nolan/Singletary should improve the defense significantly through FA & the draft and this team should start looking more like a Mike Nolan product immediately. 2. Every great offensive team has a great O-Line...hope they go with that at #6. Niner fanS? As in plural? I didn't know there was more than one. At least we didn't fall off the bandwagon. We just got quieter.
Thin Spirit 0 Posted March 12, 2006 I think Arnaz Battle is going to develop into a very solid Hines Ward-type receiver if given the chance to play and grow.
RicemanX 20 Posted March 13, 2006 I want them to draft nothing but DBs and OL. Maybe throw in a DL or LB here or there. I agree, the Niners need better linemen. Kwame averaged 2-3 holding calls a game and was often dominated. Get a decent d and o line with the draft picks, pick up Antonio Bryant and a good CB in the free agent market and I'll be happy
