Kitrick Taylor 0 Posted March 15, 2006 Now that the Saints have signed Brees, the popular pick for them seems to be Mario Williams, whether they stay at #2 or trade down to #4. My question is WHY??? Look at their recent drafts. 2000 RD 1 Darren Howard. DE Now with Eagles 2002 RD 1 Charles Grant DE Multiple 10+ sack seasons 2003 RD 1 Jonathan Sullivan DT Bust 2004 RD 1 Will Smith DE Very good DE with 8.5 Sacks a year ago, and seen as an up and comer. On the other hand they have a 35 year old Left Tackle, Wayne Gandy. I just don't see why they wouldn't draft D'Brickashaw Ferguson and solidify both tackle positions (Jammal Brown RT a year ago) in two drafts. football_scooter 0 Posted March 15, 2006 if one thing holds true from year to year, it's that you never know who will do what until it's their pick. I can see NO dealing down now for sure to a team that covets Leinart. NO has multiple needs, and very well might parlay that pick into a couple - Minny is looking to deal up, and has 3 of the 1st 52 picks, but maybe not that high. nobody 2,889 Posted March 15, 2006 I would like them to take AJ Hawk even if they aren't able to trade down. Their linebackers are horrible. At least at tackle they have guys. They draft DEs very well, and they might as well stick with their strengths, right? They NEED Hawk, and unless Payton is a total boob, they'll draft him. listen2me 23 1,953 Posted March 16, 2006 Seems like this team has always lacked D.....so i would trade down maybe with Oakland if they want ML and take huff or Hawk....either one isnt worth a top 5 pick because of position but they are the 2nd and 3rd best D players in the draft...so i would move down get an extra pick or 2 and get an impact D player to go along with their already good D-line.... Maybe getting Brees they set themselves up with getting a bodyguard by the name of Mr. Brick.....seeing he would go number 1 in many other years.... Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
