Patriots | Team restructures Dillon's contract

Fri, 24 Mar 2006 15:44:13 -0800

John Tomase, of the Boston Herald, reports the New England Patriots have restructured the contract of RB Corey Dillon, dropping his 2006 salary from $3 million to $710,000. According to agent Steve Feldman, the team recently picked up a $3 million option bonus, guaranteeing that Dillon makes $6 million this year. The Patriots likely transformed Dillon's $3 million salary into a signing bonus and spread the cap hit over the final three years of his deal, saving $1.7 million off this year's cap.
