EndGame 0 Posted April 2, 2006 Anyone have experience with a great web host? I'm thinking of moving my sites off the server I'm currently using. I'm thinking of using GoDaddy, which is who I've used to buy my domains. They have a basic hosting plan that's $43 a year ($3.65 a month) and includes 5GB storage, 250 GB transfer, 500 email accounts, forums, blogging, and free scripts. They also throw in a domain name for an additional $1.99 for a year. I already have a domain, but I'm sure I could think of another. It seems like a good deal to me, and probably easy to set up since I got my domains through the same company.

EndGame 0 Posted April 2, 2006 I use this:http://www.webhost4life.com Works well for me. Hmm. Looks a little better than GoDaddy in some spots, but it's more expensive and you get less space. The unlimited transfer is somewhat enticing, though. Anyone else?
EndGame 0 Posted April 2, 2006 Ah screw it. I looked around and nothing looks significantly better than GoDaddy. I signed up with them. It'll be a helluva a lot simpler to set up, I suspect, since I'm already hosting the domain there.
Mike FF Today 733 Posted April 2, 2006 The unlimited transfer is somewhat enticing, though. Anyone else? There's no such thing as "unlimited transfer" becasue no webhost can truly offer unlimited bandwidth. If you begin to use a high percentage of the server's resources, trust me, they will suspend your account or charge you for your high server use. Make sure you read the fine print whenever you see the term "unlimited bandwidth."

EndGame 0 Posted April 2, 2006 The transfer amount isn't that big of a deal for me, honestly. GoDaddy allows 250 gb of transfer a month, which I assume will be enough for the kind of businesses I have. It's not like I have tons of visitors every day. My PR business site only has a few visitors a day at this point (it's brand new) and GeekLogos averages 25-35 a day. I've got some ideas for ways to bump both of those numbers, but none of those ideas will bring about a spike to 250 gb per day.

EndGame 0 Posted April 4, 2006 why dont you go through rodney? Well, I thought I remembered someone here offering hosting, but I didn't know for sure. I figured someone would speak up. Since no one did, I thought maybe I was mistaken. I heard godaddy was good and I myself was going to try them. I'm happy with it so far. The page loads are fast, and the control panel is reasonably simple to use.

Nothing against rodknee, but I don't want a sanctuary member knowing anything more about me than they need to know.
